16:8 - staving the hunger off until 11

I'm naturally inclined to skip breakfast so don't really find that aspect too challenging until I get to about 1030 and I start wanting to eat everything in sight. I want to keep my window as 11-7 because I am not night snacking and get to eat with the family in this window. How do you stave off the pangs in that last half hour?

I brush my teeth!

Ihavenotaskedyou · 13/08/2024 10:51

Hot drinks, keep busy, do chores.
It's definitely a psychological issue I have, I use an app to record my fasting and sometimes that makes it worse as I check the countdown so I try not to open it till I know my window is open.

Prayer, if you’re religious, or meditation if you’re not. Perfect complement with fasting for mental quietude.

I WFH so I schedule boring calls that I have to be on camera for for 11-1

Frumpylab · 13/08/2024 11:48

For me, it really was a matter of getting used to it. I simply don't need breakfast any more and I'm fine until late morning. Bit of a bummer now I've got a fancy bed and breakfast hotel holiday coming up, I hope I can get my appetite back up now!!

Black coffee, or get up and go for a bit of a walk

OneDayIWillLearn · 14/08/2024 17:10

Coffee/ water, distractions, getting used it, just like others have said!

stormstormystormstorm · 14/08/2024 17:12

I drink water with lots of ice in it

Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice · 14/08/2024 17:19

All the above is good advice, I have also resorted to sugar free gum when that didn't work.

Completely adjusted to my new eating hours now though and don't get hungry until later.

Everyoneesleistheproblem · 14/08/2024 17:20

I find black coffee makes me hungry.
I agree that you just have to get used to the sensation of feeling hungry.

I try and really think deeply where it's coming from ie craving for something, really rubbling tummy, bit peckish because I know it's nearly time to eat etc. Once I recognise and acknowledge I am hungry I can ignore it better. It's the opposite to mindless eating where you find you eat too much just because you can really.

Coffee, water, herbal tea, focusing on something else.

I massage my face, temples, bridge of nose and head. Drink a hot drink. Brush teeth, shower. Do a face pack. Run the hoover round, put a wash on, water the garden.
If I get really strong cravings I do emotional freedom technique. Which is tapping parts of your face and upper body.
Just anything that takes up that little bit of time to distract you!?
