How to phase from very fast 800 to 5:2?

In the next couple of weeks I plan to phase from Fast 800 to the new 5:2. But I don’t have the book and don’t really know how to do this.

Does anyone know how you are supposed to eat on non-fasting days in the new 5:2? Is it still TRE and are you meant to stay low-carb? I am trying to plan this phase so I don’t go off the rails. Going low carb has been good for reducing my appetite but don’t know if I can commit to this long term. Is that even the idea? Any advice appreciated.

Moving from very fast 800 to 5:2 means that you can eat 'normally' on 5 days a week, and do two days a week on 800 cals. 'Normally' means eating sensibly (try not to go over your TDEE on these days), while still following the basic principals of the eating plan. ie you can eat slightly larger portions, add some wholewheat carbs etc. If you have any of the books, some of the recipes suggest ways to adapt the recipes to non-fasting days - such as adding a spoonful of brown rice, extra nuts/avocado/olive oil, topping recipes with a little cheese/poached egg etc.

Try easing your way into 5:2 by adding a little each day, until you find what works for you.
