All welcome - new posters and old!

A gentle supportive fasting thread with as much or as little checking in as you like

@desikated thankyou ♥️. I stick to teatime for my OMAD...tbh im not steadfast, ive been ill so had more to eat yesterday .but bk on it today. As long as you have enough calories in that hour timeframe you be fine.

HarpQuartet · 28/05/2024 18:02

Yes, really enjoying the story of Zombies run! I am a bit of a quitter, so let's see what happens. Had a near fruitless day at work today and ate some chocolate and biscuits out of... not exactly boredom, but something connected to a busy frustrating getting nowhere-ness. I even knew I was doing it and still did it.

I'm definitely doing slow and steady. My progress is more like a tangle of string than a lovely straight arrow.

ItRainsItPours · 28/05/2024 21:23

I’m back after my long weekend of excess. Still have to navigate the rest of half term with small skinny people underfoot constantly munching away. I think I will wait till Friday to weigh myself and hop back on the wagon.
I also like the Friday weigh in but it would be useful if it was in the title of the thread.

HarpQuartet · 28/05/2024 21:44

@loveyouradvice I am back on the low sugar wagon tomorrow 🙌

loveyouradvice · 29/05/2024 09:01

Great @HarpQuartet - sounds good - hope it goes really well for you today

Mine's going well - but Im so aware I have large chunks of time without craving sugar and then suddenly I do, out of nowhere....

HarpQuartet · 29/05/2024 09:17

@loveyouradvice I wish I had a clearer idea of what I'm sure must be patterns to my sugar cravings e.g. it happens when work is difficult BUT it's not only then, and not always then... Sometimes I just put my head down and lunchtime takes me by surprise, other times I'm looking for distraction or comfort.

Clearingaspace · 29/05/2024 13:57

Sugar is so difficult. I will resist for ages then just a small excuse I will literally eat it so quick I can’t back out! It’s weird because I know there are so many reasons not to eat it! This morning we got pop tarts as a treat for the teen kids - predictably they don’t taste as good as they look but I couldn’t help taking a bite or 2 of the one ds abandoned before throwing it away.

having red wine and a square of dark chocolate in the sun feeling virtuous as I managed a fast today and a low carb lunch!

I really liked the zombie run a few years ago but couldn’t figure out the connecting to music aspect which meant I had annoying silence in between.

had anyone’s heard of 75 hard I am contemplating making up my own rules and trying to keep them for 75 days - if you break a rule you have to start again. The rules - which I don’t plan to follow - are:
drink a gallon of water
pick a diet and stick to it (this could simply be 16:8)
exercise twice a day for 45 minutes - once to be outside (this could be Pilates and a walk or whatever)
read non fiction for 10 minutes a day
(there may be dome more rules I have forgotten but just look it up on Reddit if interested)

hope anyone off with kids is having a nice half term!

ItRainsItPours · 29/05/2024 13:57

I do try to limit sugar but I use the delay not deny fasting principle. So I eat sweet food once a day after my evening meal. The negative effect of the sugar is lessened by it being mixed with my healthy main course. I also never feel desperate to eat something as I am not denying myself the things I enjoy. Today my dd had a cookie with her drink in a cafe and I asked for one to take away, which I will have at my usual sweet treat time of day.
I think the problem comes when you eat nothing sweet for days on end then binge, which has been my habit on previous diets.

mynamechangemyrules · 29/05/2024 23:24

@ItRainsItPours
I'm aiming for end of half term back on wagon too!

Peril of being a teacher is the changes in routines...

HarpQuartet · 30/05/2024 08:57

Happy Thursday, everyone. I feel quite motivated on Thursdays because tomorrow is check-in day and ideally I'd like to be reporting that I'm happy with my progress! So no falling off the wagon for me today.

loveyouradvice · 30/05/2024 23:04

Hello lovely people - I'm looking forward to check in Friday too!!

How about we all chose something lovely for self-care next week? Small or big but definitely nurturing and/or enjoyable....

HarpQuartet · 31/05/2024 07:53

Final check in of May! I looked back to see what my goals were and I'd call this month a partial success:

Keep my weight consistently below 77kg: meh, close, 77.3 this morning

Strength training video twice a week: kind of yes. I actually ended up doing some strength training videos, some pilates, and some couch to 5k, which I'm very happy about.

Therapy self check ins: think I completely forgot about these! I did it in my head twice but I really need to write it down. I'll put in diary reminders.

Self care: I went to a fantastic sound bath a few weeks ago. It's £12, which makes it a bit of a treat, and I think it's just what I need, so I'll book one in June.

Looking forward to hearing everyone's news xx

desikated · 31/05/2024 08:21

Well done @HarpQuartet and such great progress with the strength training - it doesn't need to be perfect - progress not perfection is where everyone is at ❤️

My friend went to a sound bath and said it was amazing! Sounds lush.

I did weigh in today despite feeling very unsure about it. 65.3kg.

My lowest weigh in was three weeks ago at 65.1 but In Between had weighed at 66kg.

I was thinking I'd weigh in and have put on loads so I think this is a mild win / neutral good lol.

Next month - aim to be in the magic 64kgs

Self care for June - get a massage
Non food aim - DO SOME STRENGTH TRAINING lol.

Looking forward to reading everyone's updates :)

SW 1st January 17 stone 5
CW 31st May 15 stone 6
TW 1st June 15 stone 2

The above numbers mean I have only lost 1lb in May. I had lost more but have been beset with problems, bad back, heavy cold and now have covid 😣

desikated · 31/05/2024 09:17

@ItRainsItPours even more impressive you've recorded a loss in that context. Painkillers and all sorts of things associated with illness means that weight loss is really hard / impossible. I hope the Covid lifts soon :(

I'm going to see these as gentle triumphs for us all @desikated @ItRainsItPours @HarpQuartet

Particularly impressed by the exercise/strength training @HarpQuartet

So I'm happy - I've remained at 11.8 which is my goal for coming weeks - and I've increased my steps this week so several 11,000s.

I'm taking on more exercise - it's now time to add a wee bit of strength training back in and perhaps even a little dancing in the kitchen.

And nurture self - make my evening baths extra special and relaxing - try the odd candle, very dim lights... Mmmm loving the sound of this as I type it.

SW: 14.2
LW: 11.8
CW: 11.8
GW: 11.2

Clearingaspace · 31/05/2024 16:31

@ItRainsItPours yes agreed, 1lb in that context is fantastic. Hope you clear COVID quickly

@HarpQuartet amazing work on workouts this week.

@desikated good luck with magic 64s

so our cancelled holiday abroad was replaced with a trip to our closest centre parcs - dh booked a cab so I didn’t even have the stress of driving ❤️ we haven’t been in about 5 years at least, maybe more, but had a lovely relaxing time and I enjoyed the spa bath and sauna so so much! As a result I am going to copy you @loveyouradvice and have more pamper baths! Usually I can go months without a bath (obviously I shower 🫢).

I will need to weigh in tomorrow as we got back today

ItRainsItPours · 01/06/2024 07:34

@desikated pretty please could we have a new thread counting down to July? I weighed this morning and had relost the 2lb I lost earlier in the month. That gives me a total loss of 3lbs in May which I m very pleased with as I’ve been unwell.

Clearingaspace · 01/06/2024 08:18

That’s great @ItRainsItPours

Clearingaspace · 01/06/2024 08:23

I am up 4lbs for may. Crazy how my body seems to just want to regain weight.

sw 204lbs cw 184.7 tw 139lbs

ItRainsItPours · 01/06/2024 12:15

I think weight recently lost goes on quickly and weight recently gained can come off just as quick. This is why everyone keeps taking about being on or off the wagon 😩
June is a fresh start and hopefully nothing round the corner to knock us off.

desikated · 01/06/2024 13:46

Will make new thread today or tomorrow....promises!

I'm back from holiday and catching up on the thread! Well done all for hanging in there and glad you got a break too @Clearingaspace

Weighed myself this morning and I'm 2 pounds up I think after holiday, at my target of 9st 7lbs when i was previously just below so not too bad despite all the bread, cheese and wine I consumed. It was totally worth it.

Planning new goals for June, bit more weight loss and lots of running!
