Fasting / 5:2 diet

Best plan for newbie trying to lose weight

I have never done intermittent fasting before but have done the Cambridge one to one diet so I'm used to eating very low calories.

What is the best plan for a beginner who wants to lose a substantial about of weight (probably 4 stone)?

I've read about 5:2, 16:8 and a couple of girls in my work do 18:6.

Any tips would be appreciated

It really depends on your sleeping patterns and when you get hungry etc. I like to eat after I've 'fasted' for at least 12 hours. So it's like a mini stealth fast. That's the easiest way to do IF as most of that time you are asleep. I usually wake up at about 11am (i know, no kids/ disabled) and eat a 250 cal breakfast at 12:00. At around 3-4pm another similar sized meal, then 8pm a larger meal of about 700-800 cals. Maybe 100 cal snack just before bed at 11pm. Then nothing till midday next day. You can mix this up depending on your routine, but using sleep as part of the fast helps!

Work out what 8 hour window in the day is most appropriate for you to eat and then don't eat for the other 16 hours.

So if you skip breakfast but are hungry by mid morning, keep going and have an early lunch at say 11:30 or 12 and then make sure you've also had your dinner by 7:30'or 8pm.

Or you could have a light breakfast at 11:30, lunchtime at 1:30 and then dinner anytime before 7:30 - that way you'd still have three meals but in a shorter time frame, giving your body 16 hours of fasting.

Perfect thanks for this.

I'm an early riser and early bedder so my typical day is up around 6am and I normally start my day with a cup of tea and some cereal or a yogurt. My lunch in work is anywhere from 11.50-12.30. And I tend to ve in bed by 8-9pm
