I've started a potential 3 day fast. Finished dinner around 9.30 last night. I'm going for 24h increments as I haven't fasted for a while.

Feeling OK at the moment. Once I get past a certain point I find it easy.

I am having tea though so doesn't meet the criteria of a water fast.

I'm doing it for blood glucose reasons, and will probably carry on fasting each week, not decided on how long each week yet.

I usually do 16:8 and low carb as standard anyway (when on the wagon), but I do like a 5 day fast for autophagy benefits.

I say on the wagon as I'm a carb/sugar addict, neither agree with me and my fbg this morning was 11.4mmol. I need to bring this back down pretty quickly otherwise I'll have to consider medication, which I dont want to do.

Anyone else want to join me?

Still feeling fine at 37 hours. Have had occasional waves of hunger, yesterday, but they've passed and not been too bad.

Some stats:

Saturday
FBG: 12 mmol
Weight: 14st 0lb 6oz
Ate mcds: 4 nugget happy meal with the fries swapped for side salad, dressing of oil & vinegar, with a small coke zero zero (sugar & caffeine free).

Chinese, 2 coke zeros, a small baileys (they give a shot at the end of a meal). We were home by 9.30pm so must have finished eating around 9.

Sunday
FBG: 11.4
Weight: 14st 3lbs 8oz
Fasting from 9pm Saturday. Did have several teas.

Monday
FBG: 9.2
Weight: 14st 1lb 4oz
Fasting.

Hello, how did you get on?

I have started a 3 day fast today at 1pm. My issue is that during a fast I can’t stop thinking about food!! Wish me luck!

Gobolina · 31/01/2024 22:12

@oOmoonhaOo I made it to about 70 hours. Going to 72 would mean I ate at gone 9/9.30 and I wanted to finish eating by 8 so ended it a few hours early.

My bg got down to about 9. Unfortunately it's back up to 11-12 now so I'm going to strip my diet right back to almost carnivore, 8hr eating window, add exercise back in and see what happens.

I'm going to have eggs, avocado, cheese, meat, mayo. And I'll still have onion, garlic & mushrooms.

70hrs is good going! I’m hoping for 36, but might push to 48.

I’m currently on 25!

What does bg mean?

Gobolina · 02/02/2024 08:48

@oOmoonhaOo Well done! Keep going!

BG is blood glucose, I track my fasting blood glucose each morning when I wake up.

Thank you. I’d like to subscribe to the zoe app too see what that’s like. I’ve never tracked anything before.

I made it to 42hrs, which was 7am this morning and tbh I don’t feel good! I felt sick and a bit dizzy/clammy.

I had a stock drink some cucumber and 2 boiled eggs over the period of 2hrs to break my fast.

Gobolina · 02/02/2024 13:07

Thats a bit how I started feeling so decided to end it at 3 days instead of going to 5.

I'm not familiar with Zoe, I've seen it mentioned on here but not sure what it is?

I don’t know much either really. But I know it tracks glucose levels.

Gobolina · 02/02/2024 14:38

Ah ok, I've just googled it and it looks like its based on glycemic index.
