4-week fasting countdown to December 2023

HarpQuartet · 04/11/2023 09:04

Come one, come all, this is the thread to see us through to December. We'll have four Friday weigh-ins: 10, 17 and 24 Nov, then (drum roll) 01 Dec, from whence time shall speed up scarily until the end of the year is in sight.

Thank you @Peae for previous threads and for asking if I'd be interested in starting this new countdown, and here is a roll call for those who may wish to continue with accountability, encouragement, sharing your wisdom, wins, or woes. All are very welcome plus of course anyone new who'd like to join us. Sincere apologies to anyone I’ve inadvertently missed out.

gettingolderbutcooler · 17/11/2023 08:14

I'm doing the 5:2 too.
Only for a week so let's see how long THIS lasts 😩
Gone from 106.5 to 105.5
It's a start sigh

Ikg loss is good! Well done.

My loss this week is about the same (2.4 lb) and I'm pleased with myself.

HarpQuartet · 17/11/2023 13:03

Absolutely it's a start, @gettingolderbutcooler and well done everyone for checking in, and keeping on keeping on. I'm doing useful slow thinking about what I need to do, and I like knowing their are others aiming for the same.

Great losses and roughly snap for me as I lost 2lb!

current weight 190.3 lbs, 5ft 4

I have been recording weight loss since I joined this thread, but I realised I was actually 14 stone 7/ 203lbs in sep - so I am very near to a stone off. That will be a nice milestone so fingers for a lb off this week!

TheShellBeach · 17/11/2023 15:15

Well done @Clearingaspace

HarpQuartet · 17/11/2023 15:44

Looking forward to celebrating that with you @Clearingaspace

Hey I'm back again for the run up to Christmas.

Goal is 55kg
Current weight is 59kg
Starting weight was 65kg

I'm loosing the weight but my abdomen is still 'bloated/pregnant look'. Working hard on basic abdo exercises and still IF most days 16:8.

Keep going everyone

Your starting weight is lower than my goal weight.
How tall are you?

Peae · 17/11/2023 20:05

I've stayed the same at 13st 8lb (which was my holiday gain).

Next week I'm going to repeat my sugar-free, Diet Coke-free Monday and also do this on Thursday. The other habit that's very nearly daily is breaking every fast with a small green and seed salad.

HarpQuartet · 17/11/2023 20:14

@Peae I have every intention of joining you sugar-free on Monday, and am going to play it by ear for another day later in the week. I think if I set out to have a sugar-free day, but am finding it hard and eat something sweet mindfully, that would count as a win. It's the stopping-once-I've-started that tends to confound me.

Hope it’s OK to join the thread for some resolve stiffening. I’d like to lose half a stone because I put that much on accidentally due to stress and it’s making me feel not great and I want my clothes to fit again. I haven’t been able to exercise either so there’s that.

Peae · 17/11/2023 20:36

It's the stopping-once-I've-started that tends to confound me.

I'm too ashamed to confess what I've eaten today, but needless to say, I know exactly what you mean :( However, I've started my fast and I'm already in to my "back on track".

@BackSeatDriving I would love to lose half a stone too, as an interim goal.

HarpQuartet · 17/11/2023 21:31

You're very welcome @BackSeatDriving

@Peae I think we're good at getting back on the horse. The "hard stop" of fasting really really suits my brain.

Fouramclub · 18/11/2023 13:28

Well done everyone!

My starting weight in August was 75kg
last week I was 72.6kg
this week I'm 73.2kg so a gain of 0.6kg

I'm almost 2.5 years post partum when I was 82kg so I'm not too bothered by the small gain but I am a bit annoyed at how slow the weight loss is going and I know this is due to me over eating.

i've been cutting back on calories this week aiming for 1300 per day while doing 16:8 and I find on some evenings I wake up in the middle of the night absolutely famished so I go and have a slice of toast and an apple. This week I'm going to aim to eat about 100g of protein a day and about 20-30g of fibre and see if eating more protein/fibre makes a difference to my hunger levels.

i am fine with hunger during the day but I can't sleep at night if I'm hungry!

BackSeatDriving · 18/11/2023 21:57

Thank you everybody. I am going to start gently this weekend by upping water drinking, and keeping busy to try to stop the sugar cravings and going swimming.

Clearingaspace · 19/11/2023 08:34

Agree about the fasting full stop! My weight has bounced up again already - so fasting today and sensible eating the rest of the week 🤞

@Fouramclub that is roughly how I am trying to eat but with some higher days in the hope it helps my metabolism

hope this week goes well @Scentorii

Peae · 19/11/2023 19:00

Anyone joining me and @HarpQuartet for sugar-free Monday? (I'm also aiming for Diet Coke-free).

BackSeatDriving · 19/11/2023 21:05

Ok then!

Fouramclub · 20/11/2023 10:08

@Peae I'm in!

HarpQuartet · 20/11/2023 10:53

That's great! Wishing everyone a good day. I've got nice meals planned and weighed myself this morning, which was quite motivating to get back in the saddle today.

OP posts:
Peae · 20/11/2023 11:11

So far, so good. I’ve broken my fast with a green salad and nowhere near any item I’m abstaining from.

HarpQuartet · 20/11/2023 11:51

Rogue colleague has brought biscuits from his holiday but I can resist.

OP posts:
Sheisready · 20/11/2023 19:35

I did it! No sugar, no coke, no UPF... I feel very pleased with this success!

(Edit - it's me, Peae).

HarpQuartet · 20/11/2023 19:40

Congrats! That's a lovely thing to hear 👏
