4-week fasting countdown to December 2023

HarpQuartet · 04/11/2023 09:04

Come one, come all, this is the thread to see us through to December. We'll have four Friday weigh-ins: 10, 17 and 24 Nov, then (drum roll) 01 Dec, from whence time shall speed up scarily until the end of the year is in sight.

Thank you @Peae for previous threads and for asking if I'd be interested in starting this new countdown, and here is a roll call for those who may wish to continue with accountability, encouragement, sharing your wisdom, wins, or woes. All are very welcome plus of course anyone new who'd like to join us. Sincere apologies to anyone I’ve inadvertently missed out.

Today I can aim for that feeling tomorrow 😊

I was similar on Sunday lunchtime @HarpQuartet i followed this with a 20 hr fast then 850 cals on Monday. I felt really rough at the midway point of the eating window but great by the end. Anyway zero pounds lost after all that so I paid for my daft eating on Sunday!

seem to be maintaining but hope another 800 cal day tomorrow will shift things so I have a proper loss this week on Friday weigh in.

I have read the menopause reset by mindy Pell this week on kindle. Would recommend for anyone in peri or heading towards 40 or poss even recently post menopause. There are a lot of expensive supplements and therapies recommended which I am ignoring. Also ignoring the low protein recommendations. But clean fasting is new to me and I quite like it. I am drinking hot water rather than coffee and saving tea and coffee for eating window.

HarpQuartet · 09/11/2023 07:50

WEEK ONE CHECK IN TOMORROW,
FRIDAY 10 NOVEMBER!

OP posts:
Peae · 09/11/2023 18:05

I’m on holiday this week with no access to scales (and lots of access to food) so no weigh-in for me tomorrow.
back at work on Monday and I would really like to try some sugar-free days.

HarpQuartet · 10/11/2023 06:12

81kg, same as last week.

Hope you're having a good break, @Peae . I'd like to try a sugar free day or two soon as well - if you'd like to coincide for solidarity, would Monday and/or Tuesday be any good for you?

OP posts:
Peae · 10/11/2023 06:47

Monday would be great! Shall we do it ?

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 10/11/2023 07:26

Checking in...

This week has been boosted by chest infection and asthma so limited appetite especially around coffee and milk that has made it easy to stick to 16:8 and lower carb.

SW (30th October) 11 5.6
Target 9 stone
Today 10 11.4

Not expecting that to continue as I'm off on holiday Sunday...

Clearingaspace · 10/11/2023 07:42

Hope you feel better in the week ahead @putthehamsterbackinitscage

good luck on Monday with sugar free challenge @HarpQuartet & @Peae

I only did 1 800 cal day in the end but managed fasts of 13-18 hours every day so am happy.

sw 2 nov 198 lb

cw 192.5 lbs

gw 139 -147

trainplane · 10/11/2023 08:11

SW 70.1 kg (4/11/23)
Today 69.5
goal weight: 66kg

I'm okay with this but aware that I am moving up and down the same few pounds for the last 4 months, and the next step is to binge and go up into the next bracket, try to tackle that, then move up and so on....

So I need to keep in the game this weekend, which is when I put back the few pounds I lose during the week. Fingers crossed. Bookclub tonight so will have a decent lunch, and enjoy the protein based nibbles at bookclub as my dinner and keep away from carbs. I will also commit to posting here tomorrow as to whether or not I manage that.

I'm going to try and join in with the 800 cal days next day, maybe on a day I'm wft with access to fresh salady stuff.

Good luck with the weigh ins everyone!

TheShellBeach · 10/11/2023 09:27

Morning everyone.

Weight last week 17 st 4.6lb

Today's weight. 16 st 11.6lb

Weight loss this week 7.2lb

(Total weight loss since 16th October = 2 stone 2lb)

I'm so glad to be less than 17 stone at last.

Aiming for 16 stone by Christmas. Also aiming to get back into my nice coat by then.

Clearingaspace · 10/11/2023 10:05

Fantastic @TheShellBeach well done on back in the 16s!

@trainplane if you post when your doing 800 I will try and join you! Hope weekend goes well.

iwantavuvezela · 10/11/2023 10:15

Well a gain today 64.8 down to 64

(However it might go up as I did two OMAD days, and then yesterday had some sort of a bug and couldn't eat and only managed some tea and a slice of toast).

But after the two week half term, back to where I was hoping to be - how to nudge it into 63 territory

Good luck to everyone

iwantavuvezela · 10/11/2023 10:17

@trainplane we sound so slmilar when you speak of recycling the same pounds up and down - I have found that having two days a week when I only have one meal is helping to nudge it down (slowly but down!)
Fingers crossed for you

Peae · 10/11/2023 14:19

I’m so inspired by posters’ weightloss success. I feel motivated to break the stone barrier by New Year.
(And yes, this will mean me finally saying goodbye to those few pounds I keep visiting!).

HarpQuartet · 10/11/2023 17:32

Such progress! Well done everyone, sorry for those with lurgies and hooray for those with holidays.

I feel like it's totally possible for me to start the New Year at 70-something kilos instead of 80-something.

@Peae YES to a sugar-free Monday! For me, that means no sweets and biscuits, but fruit is ok. May the force be with us.

Well a gain today 64.8 down to 64

That's a loss, surely?

Fouramclub · 11/11/2023 22:15

Checking in today

weight in August - 75kg
weight today - 72.6kg

i would love to be 70kg by Christmas.

ultimate goal is to be hovering between 65-67kg but given the rate I'm going I'll probably get there in the next 2 years 😂

HarpQuartet · 12/11/2023 18:17

@Fouramclub my progress is veeeery slow too but I think I look more or less ok so it's not getting me down. Good luck with your Christmas goal.

@Peae I'm stupidly nervous about going sugar-free tomorrow, I'm so addicted! I have a tactic in place: apple slices with peanut butter for a snack, and reminding myself that as of approx 11.30am Tuesday, if I really need some sugar, I can have some. Do you just manage on willpower?

OP posts:
Peae · 12/11/2023 20:36

I'm nervous too Grin. I wrote a post earlier about our deal, but accidentally deleted it and lost heart to rewrite it all out.

Yes, I white knuckle it. Your idea is probably more sensible. I'm back at work tomorrow and have a pretty busy day until about 4pm. The tricky bits will be the open box of celebrations in a cupboard in my office, and later passing lots of shops on the way home.

I feel similar to you though, if I want to eat chocolate on Tuesday, I can do. Delay don't deny, and all that.

I won't find this easy. Since quitting diet coke, despite lapses, I am struggling having to manage my feelings when I'd normally relieve them with a can of coke or bar of chocolate :(

HarpQuartet · 12/11/2023 21:18

Oh I really feel this! I like it that there's a place I can say things like this, or tell someone else that their experience chimes with mine x

OP posts:
Blackeyeliner · 13/11/2023 17:06

Hello is it OK if I join you all here? I'm a bit late! Have been doing IF for 5 months
SW 68.3.4kg
CW 58.06kg
Goal weight 54.4 kg although not entirely sure, would love to get down to 8 stone anything! since it has been years since I was there. Unfortunately weight loss has stalled this last month. Not sure how to get it moving again. Watching the scales like a hawk but keep going between the same 2 pounds on and off for weeks now.

Blackeyeliner · 13/11/2023 17:08

I also quit the diet coke, went cold turkey! Chilled fizzy water is my alternative.

HarpQuartet · 13/11/2023 17:42

Hi @Blackeyeliner I bought a second hand soda stream recently to use for fizzy water and I have been drinking loads less diet coke since

OP posts:
Sheisready · 13/11/2023 17:53

How have you got on @HarpQuartet ? I haven't stopped today and that made it much easier. I did it! No diet cokes and no sugar. Had a salad for breakfast at 11am and a spaghetti bolognaise for tea. Probably the best day my microbiome have had in months.

(It's me, Peae).

Thereyougo10 · 13/11/2023 18:06

Thanks, also still in and it's going well for me. Good luck to all. I am on omad, the amount of energy I now have is insane. Feeling really well.
