I am weighing in at 13st 7lb, which I think is either a slight gain or staying the same. However, I am delighted to have been able to quit Diet Coke for the first time in a couple of years. My next goal will be quitting chocolate and biscuits.
The hardest part for me has been the emotional side of it all. I realise how often I "take the edge off" any uncomfortable emotion such as boredom or sadness with food or drink. Walking is helpful, but you can't always get up and go for a walk!

@Peae that's huge: when I previously lost weight successfully, I started drinking (actually I feel I should say 'using') Diet Coke as a 'treat'. I knew it wasn't a good strategy but reasoned it away as something temporary that was helping me get to a healthier place, which it did, except that I never stopped drinking it, and over the various lockdowns I lost my good habits and put on a lot of weight. So this time I don't even have Diet Coke available as a 'treat' because it's become the norm.

Was it just a case of willpower for you? I mean obviously if I stop buying it, it won't be in the house, but ideally I'd stop because I simply don't want it or need it any more.

Thanks Harp, it's a big achievement for me.
At my worse (most stressful) I was on 6 cans a day. Recently I was on more like 3. I think it was knowing, a) how it damages my microbiome, b) how it may trigger an insulin response and c) how I was kidding myself thinking it doesn't break a fast that got me through the withdrawals this time.
Last time I quit it was knowing about how damaging aspartame might be in terms of bone health.

I have got clean in the past, but always got hooked again, thinking "one can won't hurt". I would really like things to be different this time.

I bet this would resonate with lots of other people, @Peae

Thanks for messaging me to ask if I'd be interested in setting up the 'heading for December' thread, I'll do that this morning.

weigh in:
sw 67kg
cw 65.9kg
tw 61kg
Hi everyone! Amazing to see everyone’s weigh ins, and definitely agree that this group is lovely and motivating!

im exhausted tonight and quite peckish past my eating window but don’t think I’ll cave … loving things so far/ this must be day 4. I’ve been generally eating what I want/can have. Today that was half a Cinnabon and a coffee, a sandwich with chicken slices, a bit of coleslaw and veg and curry with rice for dinner. Then had a tea in the eve. Could have had some biscuits but didn’t fancy them??? Who am I???? Haha previously thought I would have had them anyway just because I was allowed (this is an issue for me a bit as I was kind of deprived of sweet and chocolate as a small kid so I’ve really kind of go for it now I’m an adult.

Was interesting to hear where people had put their weight on. Lockdown also made me like it on a bit. I always weighed around 60kg until I had my first, lost most of the weight but then lockdown hit and the new normal was 65kg … on my small frame it was a huge amount of weight. I can’t wait until people start noticing honestly , especially my husband who is amazing but we don’t have much time together these days with 2 DCs and I’d love to feel good enough to dress up more and feel confident you know… in the buff ;)

@coffeecupslinedup aaah, I need to get to the stage where I don't fancy biscuits!

ah brilliant i've been looking for an accountability thread

Starting weight 101kg
target : 91kg

I realize I've got a long road ahead, but a journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step.
