I'm here for a bit of a rant at myself this morning.

over the course of the weekend I have put on almost 2kg!! Granted, I did go away for a child free weekend spa break and had breakfast and two meals out with a glass of wine but I didn't have lunch, went for really long walks, a weights session at the fancy hotel gym and two 30 min swim sessions. I was very active so didn't anticipate putting on quite this much which nearly puts me back to my August start weight.

what annoyed me most about all of this is that I didn't even enjoy the food. It was expensive but mediocre. I have promised myself I won't waste calories on food that isn't tasty enough but here I was stuffing my face - my mentality being it's expensive so I had better finish it.

im not going to wallow too much and I'll get back into my routine this week although I'm eating out x3 this week 🤦🏽‍♀️ for various celebrations so hopefully I can be a bit more measured. I will just have one meal today and on the days I'm eating out as I'm feeling quite full but it scared me how easily I slipped back into bad eating habits!!

hope you all have a fantastic week!

Peae · 17/10/2023 19:39

I am struggling! I had a really good weekend in terms of eating and fasting; made the most of the weather with a good long walk, and then ended Sunday feeling very flu'y and run down.
This seems to be my pattern because I'm still eating too many carbs and lots of sugar. I'm wondering if it leads to carb flu symptoms when I fast?

@Fouramclub it is staggering how slowly 2kg comes off and how quickly it goes on. I hope you're enjoying your various celebrations this week and that IF isn't getting in the way of having a good time.

HarpQuartet · 17/10/2023 19:48

@Peae I feel as though I'm in a "giving up" moment right now EXCEPT that, having overeaten this afternoon, I have skipped dinner, whereas there have been many many times in the past when I've been feeling full and STILL eaten dinner because of... Not sure really. Shame? Because eating dinner is just what you do? Because I didn't want to explain to my husband and children?

Have you been able to take time off work to be properly ill in bed, or are you struggling on?

Loubelle70 · 17/10/2023 19:49

@Peae im same atm...put £ back on from last week. We will find that medium where we can shift the weight ♥️

Peae · 17/10/2023 20:16

Thank you folks, I feel such a failure and a fraud when I start the thread and am rubbish at it.

@HarpQuartet - thank you for thinking of me with your 5k, but it's not for me at the mo. Have you started? How's it going?

OP posts:
Peae · 17/10/2023 20:17

(And I am, of course, not taking time off work. It's a brand new job, plus I hate taking time off sick).

OP posts:
HarpQuartet · 17/10/2023 20:22

@Peae it was so cold and dark the morning after I suggested C25K that I stayed in bed 😁maybe in the spring. Besides I'm not feeling 100% - three people in my not-very-big company have had Covid and another half dozen have had coughs and colds that weren't Covid. The germs are everywhere.

I too hate taking time off work, and particularly as a new starter. Do you feel like it's been a good move for you, or too early to tell?

Cherryblossom81 · 17/10/2023 21:50

Hello all. Could I join you?

I also wondered whether anyone has found that it is better to have an earlier eating window than a later window? I've been experimenting with IF for the last couple of weeks, eating between about 1pm and 8pm. I know it's early days (and that calorie deficit is most important) but I've not lost any weight. I'm wondering if I should change my eating window to be something like 8am to 4pm instead?

Also (sorry, lots of questions!) - has anyone had success with fasting who is quite short and not with lots of weight to lose (so your daily calorie requirements are already quite low)? I need to lose around a stone to be at my target weight, but starting from 8 stone 7, so finding it quite tricky!

Peae · 18/10/2023 06:57

Welcome!

I find an early window suits me better but that’s very difficult around my work hours. Eating after work is just more feasible.

OP posts:
HarpQuartet · 18/10/2023 08:06

I sometimes end up with an early window just when the circumstances happen that way, but not consistently enough to know if it makes a difference to weight loss. I do seem to be expert at staying the same weight though 😑

My height and weight loss goal are quite different from yours so can't help there either but wanted to say hi 🙂

Fouramclub · 18/10/2023 11:14

Hello @Cherryblossom81 I personally find 12-8 or 1-9pm work for me as I can't go to bed hungry but I've not been losing much weight at all so I'm not sure I'm the best person to comment!

Peae · 19/10/2023 21:16

@HarpQuartet definitely been a great move for me.

Not been a very good week for me at all. Not even sure I should weigh in the morning!

WEEK TWO CHECK-INS FRIDAY 20 OCTOBER!

OP posts:
MegBusset · 20/10/2023 07:09

Starting weight (1 August): 10st 3lb
Current weight: 9st 1lb
Lost this week: 0.8lb
Goal weight: 9st

Going away for a few days this weekend so might be tricky to stay on target but we’ll see!

violetcuriosity · 20/10/2023 07:27

Morning,

Starting weight- 13st 1lbs (July)
Current weight- 11st 13.4lbs
Target weight- 11st

I had a blip the weekend before last so from 2 weeks ago I've only lost 0.2lbs 😂 but, hopefully back in the game again now. 8 months post partum now and really no excuses to still be 13lbs over my prebaby weight 🙈

Well done everyone xxx

HarpQuartet · 20/10/2023 08:15

Morning all.

My starting weight in May or June was 88kg. My ideal weight is 68kg (that will move me out of the "overweight" category).

Last week I was 81.5kg
Today 81.0kg

@Peae were you brave enough to look?

I spoke to a CBT therapist earlier this week about a work-related anxiety problem - she doesn't have availability atm but will in a few weeks. It strikes me that my eating behaviour (in brief, eating well beyond feeling satisfied) might be something I can talk to her about.

HarpQuartet · 20/10/2023 08:17

@MegBusset and @violetcuriosity you are doing so well 💫🙌

Loubelle70 · 20/10/2023 08:25

9st 7 still.
0 lost 😑

iwantavuvezela · 20/10/2023 08:36

Starting weight - 4 September 68.1kg. (Goal to get to 62 by mid December)
Weight last week - 65.2
Weight yesterday - 64.8
0.4 lost

Finally, with doing 2 OMAD (Monday and Wednesday) my weight is starting shift downwards, slowly each week - stalled most of September (gave up wine, exercised more, eating well - but It seems I need a real calorie deficit 2 days a week to make a mark on the scales!!).

HarpQuartet · 20/10/2023 08:48

@iwantavuvezela I've (accidentally) found something similar: twice this week I'd finished eating by 5pm and that seems to be what makes a difference for me. I didn't count calories, but I was in a position where I was still full at dinner time, so skipping it was better for me than eating it when I wasn't hungry (which does sometimes happen for social/politeness reasons).

violetcuriosity · 20/10/2023 08:53

Yes, my biggest losses have always been when I've had my main meal at about 3pm and then nothing after that x

pottypotamus · 20/10/2023 12:01

Hello!

Please can I join you all on your weight loss journey?

My weight has climbed up the last couple of years and I've struggled to successfully get it back down. So I'm trying intermittent fasting for the first time and trying to stick to a window of 11am-7pm. I started on Monday 16th Oct and so far I've dropped quite a bit but not sure if that's just water weight.

SW: 11st 5lb
CW: 11st 0lb
Drop: 5lb
Goal weight: 9st 10lb

Peae · 21/10/2023 09:04

Some fantastic achievements! Very inspiring. I would love to get below 13st.

Peae were you brave enough to look?

I remembered too late yesterday but today shows I’m a pound down from last week. So 13st 6lb. Again.
