Does anyone do this? I’m very busy in the morning with getting kids to nursery / school
and myself to work. Feel like this is when I need my energy, whereas the evenings not so much. But not sure if it’s good role modelling not to eat with the kids in the evening, they eat at 6. If I do 8am-6pm will I still get some benefits? Thanks for any advice.

I tried this for a few days but found it hard. I’m often not hungry early morning & like you mentioned, I like eating round the table with dh and dcs in evening.

I’m so busy in the morning that I don’t think about food and don’t get hungry till about 11ish anyway. I do 16:8 instead.

I would be too hungry in the evening to do this. Also have you actually tried skipping breakfast because I have plenty of energy? I also find it easier to ignore hunger when busy.

I do this but I go to bed quite early (by 9:30).

I find if I eat in the evening I eat a lot more than if I have dinner at 5pm.

I think it depends on when you feel hungry as to how difficult or sustainable it will be. A friend of mine would find this way of eating very easy, as they feel hungry in the morning but not really in the evening. I naturally favour eating in the evening to morning or afternoon and wouldn’t find this eating pattern sustainable.

I often do 8 to 5pm as my children eat before 5pm. Honestly though I wouldn't be too wedded to getting exactly 16 hours fasting and a couple of hours less will not make a significant difference.

Do you know the science behind why 16:8 was decided upon as a fasting window? It was just because the lab technician needed to get home to see his partner and couldn't feed the rats any later!

@Lovestinksyeahyeah i do same hours as I’m hungry in am and after 4/5 pm just don’t feel any hunger. Well I do 9-5pm
works fine! I have small kids too and just tell them I get hungry earlier I think when they older I’ll have to make meals more of a thing and sit together but for now my baby and son eat sep times anyways so I just join in with baby!
