Is intermittent fasting a good way to lose weight for an over 45 years old ?

Work colleague of mine is doing it, but I think she has something like 18 hours of no eating. Basically she skips a meal and eats two low calorie meals.
Shes lost weight, but she’ll put it back on if she goes back to 3 meals I’d think.

Hi, I’m on my third week of eating 16/8 and have lost 2lbs each week (only have half a stone to lose) I’m 60 and am planning to continue to eat 16/8 when I’ve reached my goal weight to maintain the loss. I find it really helps with ‘no snacking’ during the evening which is my worst time for binging! Good luck.

First time round I did IF I didn’t change what I was eating, I felt great but lost nothing. Second time round I changed the eating window time, ate low carb and lost 10 kg and 2 dress sizes and was delighted. I was 45/6. Now pregnancy but will definitely return to it later.

I only eat across a small eating window. I have lost weight but it stalled. I’m 50 and on HRT. find it pretty easy to skip meals as I’m busy. My appetite has definitely reduced and I can’t eat much when I do eat.

I'm 54 and have been IF using the 5:2 model since January. I've so far lost nearly 2 stones. I haven't been terribly strict if things have been difficult on a fast day, but I have always made sure to do a good couple of hours exercise two to three times a week as well.

I'm 58 and have recently started IF. I'm not on HRT, but am on meds for underactive thyroid. I have been steadily losing weight over the past few months and still have around 1 - 1.5 stone(s) to go. IF seems to be working well for me, so far. I fast for around 15 hours, which fits my day schedule, finishing at about 9.30am. I have a small breakfast and then have a light lunch and a bigger dinner about 6pm. I'm also vegetarian, but eat a mostly plant-based diet.

Yes!!!! Lost 35 lbs with it a couple of years ago - doing a mix of 16/8, 22/2 etc with fairly low carbs... My body and me really liked it - easiest way of losing weight I've ever had as I felt good throughout and often felt full. And could have the occasional enjoyable day of pudding etc!

Stayed off and I moved back to 16/8 with a couple of 22/2 a week ...

But sadly unexpected death, I massively overate so am going to have to lose a chunk of it again....
