Fasting for energy

I keep reading that intermittent fasting can boost your energy levels, which really appeals to me as I always feel knackered!!

Have you found that it's helped your energy levels, and if so, how quickly?

Also, I can't function without a couple of white coffees in the morning. I'd like to fast 12-8pm but will the milk in the coffee ruin the fasting effects?

Yes to both. I've recently started fasting and noticed increased energy and wellbeing after 5 days. Digesting milk will negate the effects of the fast I'm afraid. I drink black coffee (Nescafé Azera is lovely without milk), redbush tea or water.

Yes, if you are having milk you are no longer fasting. As for the energy, I don't get more energy when I'm fasting, tbh. I'm on OMAD and when I occasionally have an extra meal (e.g., on holiday) I don't feel more or less energetic than usual, just more bloated. I've been on OMAD for so long that eating additional meals really messes up my digestion. As an aside, I've also done some longer water fasts of 3-6 days for the autophagy benefits, and these fasts are supposed to make you feel like superman according to what I've read on the internet. You're supposed to get a surge of energy, a crystal clear mind, become mega efficient, etc. Never happened to me. I've done about a dozen of these fasts and each time I got weak, dizzy, fuzzy-brained and basically useless. I really don't get it when people say fasting makes them energetic. That would mean people in labour camps or on hunger strikes should be buzzing around like Duracell Bunnies, but they're not, are they?
