I'm doing a very loose fast800, not managed to get my carbs low enough yet, but as I use up all the food in the house i'll hopefully be stricter after 2 weeks and the next shop. I have 18kg to lose ideally, but first goal is 10kg, so from 172 to 150ish.

I haven't weighed myself since starting though. I'm trying to hold off for a week.

Whatapickle21 · 13/01/2023 16:41

I need to lose a similar amount op and started yesterday. I had started trying to cut down from 1st January but needed to use up what food I had left in the house. Sounds like you are doing really well, congratulations!! Have you got the recipe book?

Cheesedoffandgrumpy · 16/01/2023 14:53

If you need motivation try reading The Obesity Code, by Jason Fung.
Another tip, not directly linked to IF is Metabolical, by Robert Lustig. His take is processed food bad, real food good. And if you take that to heart you automatically cut out a whole load of carbs and sugars making IF and the fast 800 a lot more achievable.

hi - I'm in week 2. Lost 5lbs in the first week. Don't feel as if I've lost as much this week but tomorrow I'll weigh in and find out. Then we hit a run of birthdays, so thought I'd go 5:2 / 4:3 for a bit to give myself a few days off, and then maybe do another couple of weeks hardcore. Don't think that's how you're meant to do it, but if I waited till I could see a clear 12 week run I'd wait forever (and I don't fancy it)
I started with an aim just to stick to 800 calories a day, but then as I read more about it I've tried to incorporate low carb and TRE as well - so it feels like all the diets in the world at the same time! Can't seem to give up sugar in tea, so I just drink less tea, but even that might be my undoing - although it was far worse stuff than tea that made me put weight on in the first place!

On day 6 here and going well. I’m loving the food, although a little aghast at how many eggs we’re getting through! Have pretty much stuck to the rules food wise but did have a sneaky couple of drinks at the weekend. Will weigh myself tomorrow and see if it is working.
Good luck for your weigh-in tomorrow @Rhythmisadancer 🤞
How are you getting on @gmailconfusion2 ?

Ive lost a kilo, stomach looks marginally better. This week I'm managing to up the protein a lot more so it's going better. So long as we ignore the 4 chocolate buttons I ate earlier. That were not worth it.

Pterrydactyl · 17/01/2023 16:39

I’ve been doing the Fast 800 diet for a week and a half now.

Not the keto variant, but my carbs intake - as a proportion of my diet - has gone right down at the moment. More because you get a lot more volume for your calories with vegetables compared to refined carbs, than because I’m actively trying to avoid refined carbs.

I’ve got 5 stone to lose to get to a healthy weight BMI. I lost 7lbs last week, but I’m not expecting every week to be like that!

Whatapickle21 · 17/01/2023 16:53

Well done @gmailconfusion2 hope I will have done that when I weigh in tomorrow. When I needed some chocolate on Sunday I made the chocolate peanut cookies from the keto recipe book. These were very darkly intense, but nice. I’m thinking that if I do them again I might add some vanilla flavouring to see if that helps. I don’t think vanilla would be horrifically calorific or carb heavy, but haven’t checked. I do tend to be a bit lax sometimes 😂

gmailconfusion2 · 17/01/2023 22:03

Good luck for tomorrow.im better off with no chocolate, as any quantity of cocoa is enough to start me binging on it

Cheesedoffandgrumpy · 18/01/2023 08:20

Anyone elses scales seem to vary wildly? I was super happy yesterday, reached quite a milestone, but today, despite yesterday being a fairly active 800 day, the scale says I am up by 1.5kg.

Pterrydactyl · 18/01/2023 08:41

I’ve got digital scales, and it’s got a fault where it’ll often drop the weight by 2kg if it’s used too often within a short period.

So say, I weigh myself then scale automatically turns itself off. I then weigh myself 5 mins later, and it’s showing my weight as 2kg less than it was 5 minutes ago.

We first picked up on that one when DH and I were both weighing ourselves on the same mornings.

It’s annoying but it is at least a consistent fault with our scales.

Whatapickle21 · 18/01/2023 11:51

I’ve lost 3 lbs, so it’s a good start, and I had already lost 4lbs since New Year just through calorie control, but I’ve got a long way to go. I’m doing it with my husband, which I’m finding helpful in some ways as he is quite involved in meal planning and cooking. However he has lost sooo much more weight than me and I am finding that slightly demotivating as I know he hasn’t been as strict as I have. He’s still drinking most evenings and having large amounts of snacks like the salami crisps!

Purpleavocado · 18/01/2023 12:00

Sort of.... we started this week, and DH has done well, but I was on a work thing Mon and Tue with pretty much limitless food and goodies, so back on it today. We meal planned to the nth degree on Sunday, so we know what we're eating all week and have all the shopping. The shopping was about £60ish for the 2 of us, but that doesn't include a meal I already have in the freezer, but it will make some extra portions I can freeze.
I'm impressed DH hasn't had chocolate, biscuits or crisps, he's very snacky normally!

Purpleavocado · 18/01/2023 12:14

I forgot to add info about the recipes I've tried, I'd be interested to know what you've cooked that you'd recommend -
The bean chili - this was lovely, I did put in a bit of extra chili sauce, but it was really good. I did some cauli rice on the side with some extra flavour on it
Chicken goujons - these were really good cooked in the airfryer, next time I will add some chili powder, had salad and a mini corn cob on the side
Tonight we're just having salmon and merchant gourmet cajun lentils, which are really nice
Off to make the broccoli and blue cheese soup for lunch

Whatapickle21 · 18/01/2023 14:50

@Purpleavocado we’ve really enjoyed cheesy beef fajita casserole, salmon with vegetables in a curry sauce and hummus crusted chicken all really quick, easy and so tasty. I really fancy the idea of broccoli and blue cheese soup, I’ve got Stilton in the fridge left over from Christmas. Any particular recipe you’re using? I can’t remember seeing that in the recipe book I’ve got - but don’t have it here to check atm.

Blogdog · 18/01/2023 14:54

Lost 2 stone on it two years ago but ended up with gallstones (fasting can cause this). Currently doing the traditional CICO to lose weight, but won’t be skipping meals.

Anyone doing Fast 800?
Whatapickle21 · 18/01/2023 22:53

Thank you so much @Purpleavocado I will be making that tomorrow!

Badgerloco · 20/03/2023 15:50

@whattodo2019 juat wondered how you were getting on? I started this in January and have now lost 2 stone 3 pounds. Roughly another 1 or 2 stone to go. I have been gym 5 times a week too, lift heaving weights and cardio and swimming. Surprised how I’m not hungry between meals as usually snack loads.
