Does taking medication break your fast?

Hi, I’m trying to do 13-hour fasts each day. Sometimes I manage it, sometimes not! But I was wondering, if I take my antidepressant pills during a period of fasting, does that ruin it?

I wouldn't count medicine as food!

@RewildingAmbridge haha yeah I know it’s not food, I was just wondering if the digestive system had to break it down in a similar way to food, and if therefore the body is busy doing that, rather than all the things it’s meant to be doing while you’re fasting. I was told nothing but water must pass my lips but I just wasn’t sure where medication fitted into the picture ☺️
