Has anyone reduced their cholesterol on 5:2?

I've got high cholesterol and also need to lose some about a stone. Has anyone found that their cholesterol has reduced on 5:2? I don't eat red meat and have a largely vegetarian diet. Too much cheese and too many crisps which are obviously going to go. Would love to hear success stories if there are any!

Jenkins, famous for having invented the glycemic index in the 1980"s has created a diet very effective at lowering cholesterol. You have a very reduced summary here www.heartuk.org.uk/downloads/factsheets/uclp-fact-sheet-oct2019-150dpi.pdf

The book is a bit pricey but less than a night out.

Several controlled trials have confirmed the diet's ability to lower cholesterol. www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S003306201830094X?via%3Dihub

Not sure about 5:2, however eating olives and berries daily made a big difference to my levels

Yes, I did. It was a few years back when the first 5:2 came out. I had seen the programme with Michael Mosely and then I bought the book.
I have familial high cholesterol, but it was pushed higher because I was on a Roaccutane course. My dermatology nurse mentioned at one of my appointments that I may need statins to manage it in the following years. And I thought, "Oh no I won't!!"(I was only in my thirties!!). It was the research into how to lower it without medication that led me to the 5:2.
Speak with your doctor before starting it and definitely don't stop any medication until you speak with them. Be careful with weight loss, you will loose weight on the old 5:2 programme (500 kcal on fast days). The new 5:2 appears to be just as effective though with 800 kcal on fast days. I can't comment on its effect on cholesterol though as I am no longer monitored.
