Please help me. I've done this diet before, lost a stone or so but gradually put most of it back on.

I'm starting today and need company/ motivation etc.

Anyone want to join me?

Hi! How does this work, so you have an 8 hour space during the day where you eat a whole day of food Eg 12-8. Can you eat normally or do you need to be careful/watch calories etc. Do you generally have just 2 meals a day with maybe a snack in the middle? I have 5+ stone to lose and struggle with sticking to counting calories long term

peachgreen · 02/04/2022 10:50

I still count calories @strawberrysanta and I only eat two meals, and no snacking. I try to stick to around 1000 calories a day and make sure that's made up of protein, fibre and good fats - carbs are the absolute worst for me, they make me hungrier AND they make me put on weight as soon as I look at them! I follow the recipes from Fast 800 - they're delicious and make sure you get all your nutrients for the day.

2.8lbs off last week. 4 more to go to hit 2 stone. Tried on my birthday dress and it's looking much better on!

Fabulous! Very inspiring Smile

What timings are you doing and are you calorie counting/ low carbing or anything like that?

I'm plodding along at 1lb per week average, my mum commented that I was looking well (she's quite critical), I've not seen her since Christmas so IF must be working!

Difficult this week as we're with family, but I'll try 14-16 h fasts at least.

Plump82 · 04/04/2022 11:27

@rodedooda I'm doing from 14:30 which I know wouldn't suit most people. But my job means I have hardly any time to breath never mind eat so it works well. I'm also calorie counting and with eating so late I don't manage to eat over my calorie allowance anyways. I bring forward my time at the weekends to around 11am. Im also cutting carbs as much as possible. It's quite restrictive but it's working for me and I don't feel I'm missing out. Plus I'm still going out for dinner etc and not being strict with what I chose.

Rodedooda · 14/04/2022 13:05

How's is going anyone who's still here?

I'm still plodding along, about 13lbs down since I started on the 24th of January, so about. 11 and a half weeks ago. It's not been linear, had a few family events where the window was extended and less than ideal foods consumed.

However I think this is very much going to be away of life for me now, even thinking ahead to holidays breakfast (or lack of!) plans!

Whichcatthatcat · 18/04/2022 09:18

Hi, almost 3 months after I started this thread, I've not made much progress. :(

I've lost 4 kg (8.8lb)

So something, but not the 1 stone I was hoping for.

Hope you are all doing better then me.

Please keep on checking in so I can stay focused. Thanks.

Rodedooda · 19/04/2022 12:01

Whichcat - that's still progress. I count not gaining as progress!

I'm just at 1 stone off in same time period, but most importantly I'm not finding it such a huge effort compared to calorie counting etc (I've never lasted a more than a week at that and any weight loss before has been purely un-purposeful (not a real word!) but I was at my highest weight at the start of the year and approaching menopause!)

Keep going and report back, even if it's to say you're struggling, this is what this is for.

Iamtheweedonkey · 19/04/2022 12:10

Hi, I'm starting this today, going to eat between 12-8. Just about to have a boiled egg salad for lunch. Got a good 2 stone to lose.

Rodedooda · 19/04/2022 14:51

Welcome wee donkey Smile

Plump82 · 20/04/2022 18:29

I weighed myself last Friday and was over the moon to see ive hit my 2 stone mark so did it for my big birthday and managed to fit (comfortably) into my new dress. I think i might have gained a little as there was a lot of food, drink and birthday cake but I've been really careful and have done tonnes of walking this week so far so fingers crossed!
I took a photo of me wearing a dress i wore this time last year and happened to have a photo of me wearing so I could compare and its really spurned me on to lose my next 2!

Whichcatthatcat · 20/04/2022 20:59

Wel done, plump, you should be so proud.

Oh well done! And Happy Birthday!

very inspiring 😀

Whichcatthatcat · 23/04/2022 11:40

I seem to have had a really good loss this week, 0.8kg, about 1.5lb.

No idea how, yesterday I ate pasta and pizza, and cake, so that might catch up with me in the next week!

But feeling positive for now.

Lynnthesearesexnotgenderpeople · 24/04/2022 14:15

I really want to give this a go. I don't eat anything after dinner anyway so all it would be would be skipping breakfast for me and going straight to lunch. The problem is, psychologically I have to eat something for breakfast, even if its just a couple of mouthfuls - I have suffered driving anxiety in the past and if I skip breakfast I'm worried it will cause a stupid panic attack whilst driving to work. It's completely psychological and I know I can overcome it because I overcame the original anxiety, I've just got to do it. Once I'm at work I'm busy and don't think about it!

Plump82 · 25/04/2022 22:10

I've put on 1.7 since last week's weigh in. However I didn't deny myself anything over my birthday so this it be expected. I was hoping to get back on it but had chocolate for breakfast and birthday cake for lunch. Its amazing how quickly your body starts craving bad things when you eat it. Id managed to get over the cravings. The difference this time is I know I can do it and WILL get back on it.

@lynnthesearesexnotgenderpeople could you break your fast earlier in the day then and start fasting around 5ish?

@whichcatthatcat that's great to hear you're feeling positive. A good loss can be a real confidence booster!

dollface22 · 25/04/2022 23:00

Hello can I join please ? Has anybody not counted calories and still lost Weight on 16:8? Thankyou ! Xx

Rodedooda · 26/04/2022 09:10

I've been reducing my eating window to 4/5 hours, as time goes on you find it easier, I'm most definitely not counting calories, but I'm eating good food, no processed rubbish as I find I'm actually craving good food.

I'm losing, slowly though, there's no magic solution for weight loss, and if I want to eat what I want in decent quantities and not be miserable, then the slow weight loss is the compromise!

NSV though - ran faster than I have in a long time at the weekend, only 4K though (I'm not a runner really) and this was a fasted run. I felt good!

Whichcatthatcat · 26/04/2022 11:53

I never count calories. I try to make sensible choices, and stick to the eating window, but no counting, weighing foods etc.

dollface22 · 26/04/2022 20:03

Thankyou Bear I detest counting calories but will giv fasting a go ! I i like my wine 🍷 on wknds and a takeaways that's all I ask for !
Can anyone give me any ideas of their meals and their eating windows Times please ?
Well done 👏🏼 to everyone's losses also xx

Whichcatthatcat · 26/04/2022 21:34

I finish eating by 8pm, and fast until 12 midday.

That way I only miss breakfast. And if I'm I'm bit late starting, I just have a later lunch.

I do cheat a little, because I have tea and coffee with milk in during the fast.

SergeiL · 03/05/2022 18:18

is anyone still here? I started TODAY! Didn’t fancy breakfast so decided to give it a go. I need to lose 3+ stone so I am combining it with low carb. I walk but that is it at the moment. Be good to chat with others doing the same to compare notes!

Whichcatthatcat · 03/05/2022 18:32

Welcome, SergeiL,

I'mstill here, not doing too well, so perhaps you posting will spur me on.

I'm also trying to cut my carbs, cos I've been identified as pre diabetic.
So not cutting them out, but trying to eat balanced meals of 1/4 carbs,1/4 protein and 1/2 veg, as gp has advised me.

not sure that today's dough nut fits into that very well!

OP posts:
SergeiL · 03/05/2022 18:36

It’s so hard isn’t it! I have got a blood test soon and am expecting the pre diabetes conversation. I feel like I have put a stone on every decade and now in peri menopause, it is not shifting! I successfully low carbed a few years back and found it easy. I was about 4 stone lighter than I am now. I don’t even know why I stopped. But I just cannot get back to it so need to try something new, hence having a go at fasting. My major downfall is wine and associated snacking so it’s going to be interesting!
