16:8 - changed the 1st meal of the day and it’s all gone pear shaped.

Was doing great with 2xpoached eggs but moved to berries, yogurt and a sprinkle of granola for the summer and it makes me hungrier after eating than before braking my fast.....which means I then snack before main meal.

Anyone experienced something similar?

Do I need to go back to pure protein breakfast? Shame as I was loving my summer berries.

At least I am aware now of my hunger pangs. With the eggs I felt stuffed for 5 hours!

Is your yoghurt sweetened? The granola presumably is too? I don't do fasting any more, but I have fruit, plain oats and plain Greek yoghurt for breakfast with the tiniest drizzle of honey. Much more sugariness than that and I'm starving by 10:30!

Its 0% fat Greek yogurt - hope its not sweetened need to check.
Also the granola it would be a heaped teaspoon?

Will check

Have full fat Greek yogurt rather than that 0% stuff. The fat and protein will keep your fuller for longer.

Sssloou · 19/07/2021 17:59

Go the yogurt doesn't say it has any added sugar - just made from milk but the sugar content is 6% which is amber coded.

The granola is 12% sugar .... which although not colour coded is probably high sugar.

I doubt that there are extortionate calories but its how it makes me feel ravenous about an hour after eating thats the issue - so I get hunger pangs and cravings and end up seeking out a bagel....

Is there a low sugar yogurt available ? or a low sugar crunch type thing to replace the granola?

Ah - I eat full fat yoghurt, not 0%! I'm not surprised you get hungry after 0% yoghurt and a teaspoon of granola!

Noluthando · 19/07/2021 18:08

Yep you definitely need to eat full fat if you're having dairy on this type of diet

GingerRuby · 19/07/2021 18:09

Agreed with all the others, full fat Greek yoghurt and ditch the granola, try toasted flaked almonds instead, crunchy and protein/fat in one.

shenanigans5 · 19/07/2021 18:11

Total 5 is a good compromise as it’s half fat of standard Greek yoghurt. Keeps me pretty full.

Eggs are probably the best breakfast for lasting the distance though for me on 16:8.

shenanigans5 · 19/07/2021 18:12

I add mixed seeds for crunch as granola is high sugar.

Sssloou · 19/07/2021 18:13

Right full fat it is then - its a real sugar spike / slump / crave feeling - leaves me more hungry than before I ate.

At least my mind is now recognising tthat his feeling in my body is wrong - where as before I just lived this constant and compulsive carb craving diet - always hungry.

This tells me that is v subtle shifts that tip the balance.

Should not be scared of fat!

definitely ditch the granola and full fat greek yoghurt like everyone has said - chia seeds (soaked for 20 mins beforehand) will make you feel fuller too
