Hi all, I'm joining @ginsparkles in a b2b. Bagel with hummus and carrot for lunch and fishcake and stir fry veg for dinner. Should come in c.600 cals or so today then I'll plan tomorrow's with what's left

Stay strong everyone!

KobaniDaughters · 15/02/2021 14:06

@ListeningQuietly booze is usually my issue too. I never do dry January but decided to this year and it was actually quite easy so I’m just riding the motivation and keeping going. It’s DH’s birthday end of March so think I’ll keep booze free until then...

KylieKoKo · 15/02/2021 14:15

I had more booze than I should have done last night!

I'm fasting today too. Not too hungry so far. I have prawn and veg soup planned for later on.

ListeningQuietly · 15/02/2021 14:44

I had some cottage cheese and a couple of tomatoes for lunch
(I keep a big tub of full - 4% - fat in the fridge and have a couple of spoonfuls if I feel peckish)
and then its just tea till supper
which will probably be a salad

I love cottage cheese @listeningquietly and it's weirdly filling.

I've just had a boiled egg for a very small lunch.

ListeningQuietly · 15/02/2021 15:20

kylie
Its the dairy fats.
LONG ago Michael Mosely (the inventor of 5:2) tested what foods were satiating
and a glass of 2% or 4% milk with a small meal made you feel MUCH fuller for longer.

Full fat milk is only 4%
A whole pint of it is 360 calories
but FULL of really good micronutrients and fats

Found today really easy. Had a salad of red onion, tomato, cucumber and yoghurt dressing at lunch , just water and black coffee all day. Went out for a 2 he walk and forgot it was a FD as no hunger pangs. Just making shakshuka for my dinner.

ginsparkles · 15/02/2021 19:40

Kitchen closing on 544. Not such a bad day.

Tomorrows plan is
Weetabix with oat milk
Plant kitchen fish cake
Ham salad

Which would bring me in at 466 so allowed a biscuit!

harriethoyle · 15/02/2021 20:05

Kitchen closing on 551 - almost twins @ginsparkles! Probably another hummus bagel tomorrow for lunch and not yet sure for tea. Should have enough for chilli or spag bol... or maybe some fish. Who knows?!

Benjispruce2 · 15/02/2021 20:29

So if you do b2b you can eat more cals? Why is that?

Lilice · 15/02/2021 20:37

Im loving half term so far! I managed to do 50 minutes of cardio this morning whilst baby was napping and kids playing. Hopefully I'll manage to repeat every morning. I've only had 127 calories so far today. Im having some aubergines for dinner, my favourite veg. Ill make a ratatouille in my slow cooker for my next FD

Fillybuster · 15/02/2021 23:42

Oops. Fell off the thread and off the wagon. Was a bit under the weather last week which didn’t help at all: no exercise, no fasting, just curling up and feeling a bit low!

Back on again today, with a semi successful 750. Struggling at the moment: work, lockdown, childcare, the general grind all getting to me a bit.

Hope everyone is keeping ok? @ginsparkles how’s your dad getting on?

ginsparkles · 16/02/2021 08:02

@Fillybuster thank you for asking after us. All the same here, he sounds brighter now the chair has arrived and he's not stuck in the one room. I'm not sleeping and my daughter is taking it very hard, not sure what to do to help her deal with it more to be honest. Think I may ask the school if they can put us in touch with a grief counselling service, or see if Macmillan offer anything like that.

@Benjispruce2 not sure on the reason for the extra cals. I tend to try to still stick to the 500 on both days, but don't get too cross if day 2 is a little higher.

ginsparkles · 16/02/2021 08:04

@Fillybuster oh and yes right there with you with falling of the wagon and wanting to curl up right now.

Be kind to yourself too, it's hard this lockdown. Somehow lockdown 3 seems to be the hardest, maybe it's the weather and the time of year, or just fatigue of a year of this stuff. 💐

Benjispruce2 · 16/02/2021 09:34

Morning all. Another 0.5 lb off this morning after 3rd FD. I’m having a little struggle keeping my digestion moving.Blush I’m eating lots of veg but less fruit than normal. Will try drinking more water.

ListeningQuietly · 16/02/2021 10:27

Brainstrust are having Zoom meet ups for families - see if DD can get onto a kids one and you onto a grownups one - problems shared are easier to put into perspective.

Filly
Its tough at the moment
BUT
even a 750 mindful eating day is a good thing to do.

Benji
Do you have a BIG glass of water with every meal ?
it helps

OP posts:
ginsparkles · 16/02/2021 11:53

Thanks @ListeningQuietly I'll have a little look Smile

Benjispruce2 · 16/02/2021 13:33

No not with each meal but in between. Will try with . Thanks.

Faith50 · 16/02/2021 14:22

Listeningquiet
Do you recommend drinking with a meal as opposed to before a meal? I find I eat less when I have a litre of water just beforehand.

ListeningQuietly · 16/02/2021 15:56

Hi Faith
The main thing is to stay properly hydrated
and its really really easy to get dehydrated when you are starting out fasting
as your body has been used to the regular top ups of snacking and over eating

the VAST majority of 'morning after a fast headaches' are thirst

you get a lot of your water in food
if you cut down on food, you need to give your body time to learn the new normal

I often have a big glass of water when cooking
and another one with the meal

Thanks for the advice. I have stopped eating carbs in the evening and instead have a lot of vegetables and salad.

Benjispruce2 · 16/02/2021 18:33

Kitchen closed on 1300. Big glass of water whilst cooking, eating and sipping another now.Smile

harriethoyle · 16/02/2021 18:52

Kitchen closed on 910 which gives 1460 for the b2b. A bit over my 1300 target but that'll do. Will aim for a mini on Thursday to finish the week of FDs...

ListeningQuietly · 16/02/2021 20:02

Pancake supper done and dusted.
My personal fave is
ratatouille, tuna and STRONG cheddar
so actually quite healthy while being yummy

Faith
The key thing is to make sure that whatever you have for supper lets you sleep well and not wake up ravenous.

Benji
Water is much underrated
and we are lucky to have safe water on tap have visited countries where that is not the case
