Fasting if you don't need to lose weight

My Ds20 wants to start water fasting once a week for health.

I'm okay with it as he is sensible, but he doesn't need to lose weight - or certainly not more than a few pounds.

Will that happen anyway, or will his body just adapt naturally?

Start with 16:8
then 20:4
and then make VERY sure that you are hitting the micro nutrients in that meal
