Hi 👋
I’m half way through Gin Stephens new book and yesterday was my day 1
I’m aiming for 19:5 daily clean fasting mindful food choices but no dietary restrictions
I started IF a couple of weeks ago and have lost a few pounds but it’s bounced up and down in a frustrating manner so am quite happy to commit to no weighing until the 28 days are up
Looking for some company if anyone had started/ plans to 😊

I have started IF again in the last few days. From today I am aiming to do 20:4. I have had great success with IF before but all went awry at the start of lockdown and I have put on over 8 kilos! I may need to go into work soon and at the moment none of my clothes will fit Blush.

19:5, 20:4 sounds a bit drastic!

I have done 16:8 and that was manageable.

Keep hydrated and good luck.

Thank you! I probably won’t stay at 20:4 - 16:8 is what I have done in the past. I just feel I need to kickstart things with something longer - I may be chewing my arm off by lunchtime! Smile

I have read Gin's first book and liked it. I've joined The Fasting Method (Jason Fung) website and have been doing ADF for a month. I really like it- I feel so much healthier already and have lost quite a bit of weight.

Myfirstbornisacollie · 25/06/2020 06:34

I’ve found 18 hour fasts ok especially on days when I’m busy at work the extra few hours aren’t much harder. The weekends with family are tricker so I probably will throw in a couple of 16:8
No fear of dehydration I’m drinking more water than ever
Developed a taste for iced black coffee too

20 hour fast completed. Feel okay. Might do another couple of days and then switch 16:8. I have watched some of Dr. Jason Fung’s videos on You Tube - he is very easy to listen to.

Fifth 20 hour fast completed today. How are you getting on @Myfirstbornisacollie?

truelove · 04/07/2020 12:29

I’ve been following the DDD IF lifestyle since end of Jan having read about it on here. I mostly do 19:5 without much effort (clean fasting really is the key!) and have maintained my weight throughout lockdown which I’ll take as a win! I only want to lose 5-7 stubborn vanity lbs and, reading Fast Feast Repeat, think I need to shake things up with an Up days Down day approach.

SuddenArborealStop · 04/07/2020 12:47

I'm doing 16:8 most days but when I'm able I throw in a 24 hour fast. Last week I was on holiday and intended to try to maintain the schedule but found it awkward to skip meals with my mother in law present, I'm going to skip weighing myself for a while so the damage doesn't discourage me.

LittlePearl · 05/08/2020 15:35

I've just finished reading the book. Have been doing IF for a few months but not consistently, and was still having milk in tea and coffee.

Today I've started the 'clean fast' and am amazed to find black tea and coffee is not as awful as I feared. I think it will be doable. Planning to stick to 20:4 but more flexible at weekends / social occasions.

Really really want to lose a stone or two.....want the health benefits too but at the moment the weight loss is the bigger motivation.
