Questions about Fast 800

Hi all!

I'm just over two weeks into the Fast 800 and had some questions, if anyone is able to answer them for me I'd be very grateful!

So, I know you can only do Fast 800 for maximum of 12 weeks. What do you do after? I'm planning to move to 5:2 but should I aim for around 1200 calories on "normal" days?

Secondly I've heard so many people say that once you finish the Fast 800 you put all the weight back on, which I can understand if you return to old eating habits. But surely if you maintain healthy eating/portion size you won't? Can someone confirm I won't fuck up my metabolism?

Finally, I don't want to go into ketosis, it's just not for me. I'm aiming to keep my carbs around 60g a day or less which is still low. Can the Fast 800 still work ok without going keto?

Thanks Grin

Hi @Uhtredwaere I can't answer all your questions, but I did try The Fast 800 earlier this year and can give you my experience? Firstly, congrats for doing it! How are you feeling? I went very low carb but found I wasn't hungry at all after the first couple of days. I did the diet for about a month-six weeks. I lost about a stone I think? I went to 1200 cals a day after that and after on 800, it felt like loads! lol I did this until about a month ago. Then I started to binge. I would be 'good' all day, the at night just demolish chocolate, cereal bars, biscuits. I ended up putting on 1.5 in one week! Shock So after that I decided I would quit dieting for a while. I didn't. Grin I had come so far and still had so far to go. I kept to about 1200 cals but after 4 days had an other binge.
On Monday I started the 5:2 diet. I did it a few years ago and lost weight. This time though, as the diets author (Micheal Mosley?) also stated, you can go up to 800 cals on a fast day. This suits me as I am now type 2 diabetes and don't think such low calories would be good for me. My TDEE is about 1776 so on non fast days I am sticking to 1500. I've only done Monday and today so far but it's been manageable. I know I'm going about this slowly but I am happy eating what I am, and more importantly, don't feel the need to binge! I want to loose around 2 stone (Have lost 2.5 stone this year so far.) but am happy to take things a bit slower for a while. Oh yes, and apart from the 1.5lbs, I haven't put any back on. Smile I hope that helped answer some of your questions? I recently joined this thread and have found it very welcoming and helpful, maybe pop on over? Anyway, very good luck to you, I hope you manage to meet your goals. Smile
