If I break my fast with 4 cups of tea/coffee over 3 hours in the morning ,will it make much difference? Many thanks for any insight .Thanks

Depends why you're fasting. For weight loss it's likely it won't in small quantities. If you use sugar then it possibly will.

Depends how much milk you're using too. If the coffees are lattes then that's a lot of milk.

Sissy31 · 02/06/2020 13:52

i personally would say yes, as milk is technically a food, so it stimulates your digestive system
(Think about if you've ever gone for surgery, milk is always listed as food and if youve had any milk rather than water or black tea they cancel surgery)

Maybe you can just your eating window? So if you need it in the morning then change your window accordingly, for example eat between 9-5 so you can have your drinks and still fast for 16 hours Smile

Can you switch to cream instead? 1 teaspoon of double cream in a coffee doesn't break a fast according to studies on insulin levels.

Thanks for the replies .My fasting window is 5-9.I need those drinks when I get up at 6.I have to as a comfort thing really. No sugar. Interesting about the cream. Fasting to maintain and for health.Bmi is 21/22.Lost three stone and a few pounds.xx

Can't you move your window to earlier in the day?

oneboy3girls · 05/06/2020 20:29

I have no appetite at that time for food, only hot drinks.

That's the point of fasting. However 4 cups if coffee with milk is liquid food. Have one only or max 2 if you don't want to move your window

oneboy3girls · 07/06/2020 11:56

I'll try 2 cups.Thanks

I am totally on the same page here as I could happily go without food but the coffee! And I hate black coffee.
What I do @oneboy3girls is on the days I am fasting and shouldn't have my coffee with anything, I drink two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a bit of water while my coffee is brewing and try to cheat my insulin and glucose.
I also don't drink milk and usually add soy milk to coffee but not on the days I am fasting when I will use unsweetened almond milk. Not as good but way better than black.

Thanks. Shall follow this advice.
