Any tips? And anyone want to join?

I'm going to start eating at 11/12 and eat until 7/8. I'm going to try calorie counting too but not as strict in the first few days while I get used to it.

I started it in July. Despite a holiday week where I ate lots I'm 7lb down. So yes, big success so far.

Soozikinzii · 21/08/2019 23:47

I have the zero app and the life app . The advantage of the life app is it's editable so if you forget to log the time exactly you can turn it back so to speak . I think when you've done a few 16:8 or 18:6 it gets to be a habit and gets much easier.

Blubluboo · 22/08/2019 09:12

feelingforty I think that's the struggle, everything becomes a habit doesn't it! Fingers crossed for today for you.

belinda well done, that is amazing. I really hope that I can come back in a few weeks time with similar results.

I'm pretty sure you can edit times on the zero app too, I definitely changed the time when I downloaded it. Unless it was a one off? The app is really helpful. I stopped eating earlier last night and it means my eating window starts around 11.30ish today instead of 12.15. I may try to hold off a little though as I haven't been food shopping for tea tonight so I need to give myself a chance to do that and then cook. Need to avoid pasta as I had the same meal 3 nights running (single life problems! Haha)

Feeling quite good this morning, I have had a slight headache for the last few days, nothing crazy though. I am prone to headaches. I think it is just my body adjusting to less calories. Keeping water up as much as possible.
I've just come on my period today so the next few days will be the major test.

I quite like 16:8 ( at least I prefer it to any other diet). Currently trying to shift 5kg. I am not super strict and don’t really calorie count in the 8 hour window but find I naturally want to eat less. I drink tea with milk when I get up ( which I know is a mini cheat) and then just black coffee, water and Diet Coke and eat 12:30-8:30 as this fits best with my schedule and also stops me mindlessly picking and drinking wine in the evenings.

Tartyflette · 22/08/2019 14:21

I'm thinking about the 16:8 -- can anyone tell me if it is calorie limited too and if so, how many are allowed?

Blubluboo · 22/08/2019 15:49

tarty I think everyone does it differently. I started on Monday doing 1200 cals as that is what my fitness pal told me. However, after finding this guy on instagram (will link below) I feel he talks a lot of sense and followed his formula in his bio and think I might increase my calorie intake to around 1400... maybe some days less. I think I will be over 1200 today for sure as my time of the month has made me ravenous!

On Instagram his name is toms_nutrition

I’m 35 fasts in 🙂 lost about 3lb in the time which is fine as I only want to lose about 8-10lb in total 🙂

I seem to be fasting for around 19 hours most days and only eating for 3 or 4 hours.

I have been doing 8 mile plus runs on Sunday mornings fasted which have been fine.

I’m very happy on it 🙂 slow and steady seems to be working for me 🙂

Blubluboo · 23/08/2019 10:11

Totally ended up binging yesterday evening and I also feeling mega run down and just had a cake with a tea in a cafe :( will keep trying tomorrow

Don’t beat yourself up. Onwards and upwards. I find if I don’t eat close enough to the end of the window or I don’t eat enough in the window, I panic about the 16 hour fast ahead ( given I’m already hungry) and that makes animal brain tell me to eat crap like it’s going out of fashion. It’s a learning curve.

I did my ‘long run’ this morning and realised that wasn’t going to happen fasted as just too damn hot (37 degrees/ 98% humidity). Took 2 litres of Tailwind out, drank it all, had a pint of soda at the end and still down 2kg ( water obviously). I need winter to start like now, but in the meantime I’ll have to have this mini cheat. Other than that had mystery soup for lunch (defrosted it- no label/ possibly Thai butternut squash Grin ) and then a really nice mackerel and super greens salad for dinner plus a few bits of ds’s chicken tikka. Way too much Diet Coke.

Feelingfortyisntfun · 23/08/2019 13:38

Swampy I did too. Felt shattered and let the carbs and breakfast back in, today thought avocado on toast would be a great idea whilst working from home. One slice led to another, then another, then another.

I have found this is something I do and as long as i can get over the whole I’ve blown mentality I survive if I just get back on it as soon as I can. This will likely be the case for you too.

Good luck and hugs x

Tartyflette · 23/08/2019 18:34

Blubluboo many thanks, will look him up.

soulrunner · 26/08/2019 01:11

How’s everyone doing? I had an ok weekend. Stuck to the 8 hour window but had a fair bit of wine on Saturday afternoon at a bbq which made me wake up starving on Sunday morning, so the waiting till 12:30 was a bit of an ordeal. Also had takeaway pizza last night which I’m pretty sure is not in any of MM’s books anywhere. Still, am down 1kg since 4 August ( 3 weeks) which I’m happy with as I had a week travelling for work where I wasn’t strict at all, so only 2 weeks properly on plan.

swampytiggaa · 26/08/2019 07:04

Shorter fast between Friday and Saturday due to socialising 🙂 ran 13.1 miles yesterday morning fasted and felt fine! Still plodding on with it finding it pretty easy most of the time

soulrunner · 26/08/2019 10:15

Are you training for anything specific tigga or you just like running?

swampytiggaa · 26/08/2019 11:24

Currently training for a half marathon which is in 5 weeks 🙂 I’ve done 2 before but some of the people I’m training with haven’t and were worrying about being able to do the distance . So we thought we would just do it yesterday to put their minds at rest.

I run several times a week but usually only 3 or 4 miles at a time

Feelingfortyisntfun · 26/08/2019 12:20

swampy how is the training affecting your appetite? Are you aiming to loose weight?

swampytiggaa · 26/08/2019 17:22

I wanted to lose just over half a stone in total. A month in I have lost 3.5lb 🙂 I eat what I want in my eating window but find I am naturally eating less now 🙂

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 26/08/2019 17:30

I have been doing 16:8 since early Juneand I feel fantastic,I’ve dropped a dress size intact nearly two and been on a two week holiday,I do count calories but don’t go too low, I try to stay at 1800 a day but I do drink red wine often. 16:8 is the best lifestyle change I’ve ever made. No idea what I’ve lost in actual lbs as I’ve vowed never to weigh myself again.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 26/08/2019 17:31

I am also walking and running more as I have so much more energy. Well I did before this heatwave!

Blubluboo · 26/08/2019 20:41

Thanks for the motivation!! I have had an ok day today. Terrible weekend since my binge on thursday! Back to proper work tomorrow through to friday so going to plan and eat within the 8 hour window on those days. Then hopefully stick at it on saturday too 🤞 really want to just stick at it for a good 8 weeks to see how I feel.

Went away August Bank Holiday. Back on plan from Friday and back already to where I was pre-Bank Holiday.

When school goes back and the routine is fixed, mornings are going to be interesting.
