If you don't eat from 7 pm till 10.30 the next day but have a fresh lemon and honey drink ( water based) on getting up does that "invalidate" the fast ?

Yes in simple terms.
Any sugar will .You could substitute the honey for Stevia as that won’t cause a Insulin spike.

Gwenhwyfar · 04/05/2019 11:53

What can you drink during the fast teta? I presume black tea would be fine, but not herbal tea? What about diet drinks or white tea?

teta · 04/05/2019 12:08

Black tea, black coffee, herbal tea is all fine. Not diet drinks as sweeteners have a bad effect on the body. Stevia is ok as it’s not a sweetener and doesn’t affect stomach b

Gwenhwyfar · 04/05/2019 12:09

I thought stevia was a sweetener.
I suppose herbal teas OK but not fruit teas as they are sweet.

teta · 04/05/2019 12:10

Oops I pressed send too quickly. I do cheat a bit and have sugar free almond milk in my tea/coffee. It’s 12 calories for 100 ml so I just have a splash. No lattes or anything like that.

teta · 04/05/2019 12:14

No it isn’t a sweetener. It works by stimulating the sweet taste buds on your tongue. It’s ok to use on Michael Moseleys Happy gut diet so I still use it. All other sweeteners obliterate the healthy bacteria in your gut.
But saying that I think the whole idea of the fast 800 is to have no sugar or sweeteners and to become acclimatised to non sugary foods.

AntiHop · 05/05/2019 10:31

Agree with above. Honey will cause an insulin reaction which will invalidate the fast

beanaseireann · 05/05/2019 10:53

Thank you.
I'll leave out the honey.

I avoid fruit teas. I'll have a chammomile or peppermint though.
I also only have black coffee (have finally learnt to enjoy it!) and water.
Some sweet things will spike insulin in some people.
