Where am I going wrong?

For the last 6 weeks I have been eating 800 calories and fasting 17:7 and eating once at 12pm and once at 18:30.

Starting weight was 83.5kg and in the first 5 weeks I lost 6kg.

This last week every day I’ve got the scales I’ve put on and now put on 1kg.

I weigh everything and log it so my macros for the week are:

Day Carbs Fat Protein Calories
Sun 10g 36g 73g 644
Mon 68g 30g 61g 786
Tue 87g 43g 92g 1107
Wed 96g 31g 26g 815
Thu 55g 28g 47g 673
Fri 81g 27g 59g 827
Sat 23g 50g 44g 760

Drink 2l water, tea with milk in above figures and black coffee

Exercise very little around 5,000 steps a day

Why am I putting weight on?

What do I need to alter?

I am guessing the exercise?

Any advice gratefully received

Are you only eating 800 calories on your fast days or is that every day?

It sounds like you are doing well with the weight loss. Sometimes weight is different at different times of the month.

You could try and aim for 10000 steps per day to get your exercise up.

Way too many carbs and not enough protein. The 5:2/fast diet is low carb, high protein.

Questions150 · 02/04/2019 20:49

Trying to be less than 800 everyday. Now trying to keep carbs to less than 50g a day now and protein over 50g.

Last 3 days:

Carb Fat Protein Calories
42g 18g 76g 665
35g 29g 57g 645
49g 27g 64g 718

No weight gain or loss in the 3 days so at least not putting more on

Are you drinking at least 2 litres of water per day? Don’t go below 800 cals.

Come and join us on our Blood sugar/fast800 thread

Blood Sugar Diet and Fast800 thread 14 www.mumsnet.com/Talk/fasting_diet/3532374-blood-sugar-diet-and-fast800-thread-14

Many of us aim for 50-60g carbs each day, but they have to be the right carbs. If you come over the thread and post you actual food/meals not just your macros we can help you.

Coulddowithanap · 04/04/2019 18:43

Surely if you are having 800 calories per day every day then you aren't having any fast days?

Coulddowithanap · 04/04/2019 18:48

I've also not heard that the 5:2 is low carb, I've read that you can combine 5:2 with low carb for better results.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/04/2019 18:53

The new Michael Moseley diet (he co-wrote the original 5:2 fast diet) is 2-12 weeks at 800 calories every day, then a 5:2 low carb/med style with 800 calories fast days. It's called Fast800

GrowThroughWhatYouGoThrough · 04/04/2019 18:57

I'd say your carbs are too high also are u snacking between you two meals?

MoreSlidingDoors · 04/04/2019 21:31

Surely if you are having 800 calories per day every day then you aren't having any fast days?

The fasting is the 16:8, ie fasting for 16 hours per day

I've also not heard that the 5:2 is low carb, I've read that you can combine 5:2 with low carb for better results.

It’s in the 5:2 book......... it’s the basis for all of the Mosely diets of the past 5 years.

4 of those first days you posted are too high on carbs so that will be a huge part of it. Also I think you need to keep water around the 3L mark not 2L to really see a difference. Also I saw a big difference upping my salt & magnesium.

Add someone else said - what those carbs are makes a difference too!
