Question about Fast 800

Hi,

I saw a post on here last week about the Fast 800 and thought it looked really good so ordered the book and have read it.

I am keen to start this but am quite a fussy eater and a lot of the recipes in the book involve fish and eggs which I don't like. Does it matter if I replace the meals with things that I like as long as I keep to 800 cals? For example lots of the breakfasts involve eggs but I have seen a smoothie so thought I could have a smoothie each morning for breakfast?

The book also recommends cutting out all bread however can I still eat some bread as long as it's not over my daily calories?

I just want to check I am going to be able to do it even though I am fussy!

I believe he said you can do the 800 calories with 2 meal replacement shakes and a meal if you want. So I can't see why you can't swap out recipes. But he also recommends a Mediterranean diet (can't remember why) which is high fish low grain, I think because of blood sugar levelling.

@Byebyefriend thank you. I am going to try to do low carb because I know that's one of the principles. I think I will try it substituting some of the fish and egg for other things and see what happens!

Once you move on to 5:2 how do you know how many cals you are allowed on your non fast days? I know it says eat healthily but I definitely need a number so I don't eat too much on those days!

He says to not calorie count on non fast days but keep to a med diet with an emphasis on super healthy and portion control. You don’t have to do 5:2 you could do 4:3 3:4 or any combo. Obviously the more days you do 800 the more weight you’ll loose.

I haven’t got to the 5:2 bit yet, I fell off the wagon completely for 2 weeks (family meals out) but only put on a lb so must of ate less than I usually would of. I find that after first week of 800 you don’t feel as hungry so you adjust the amount you eat more easily.

My plan now is I’m back on 800 for the next 2 weeks minimum (I might extend that as I find it easier to stick to than eat healthy) then I’m going to go to 2:5 I think to allow myself a couple of days that I can eat more normally but get back on the wagon quickly before I give up.

I also find the time restriction really helpful. I only eat between 11am and 7pm so it cuts out the evening snacking/hot choc. So rather than saying oh I’ve got x calories left I can have a biscuit (very healthy!) I just go no it’s passed 7 not allowed.

I’m no expert but I’ve lost 10lb so far in a month (11lb if you count the lb I’ve lost twice!)
