Which do you prefer? I think I may be better with 16 8 as I can go without breakfast easy enough but love snacking at night! My DP is doing 5 2 and lost loads but I think I will struggle with this? Which do you prefer?

I prefer 16:8 as I need to eat food! For me 5:2 is too restrictive.

I start eating between 12-2, and then stop at 8/9pm. I enjoy food and tend to over eat in the evenings so being able to consume most of my food needs for the day after work helps me massively.

I struggled with 5:2 as I found I always had to be thinking about food and feeling deprived.
What works for me is daily fasting.
If I have breakfast in the morning (even porridge or high protein) i find that I’m starving again by 11.30 and basically want to eat alllll day long.
If I don’t have breakfast, I might have the odd hunger pang during the day but they go away pretty quickly and as long as I keep busy and I can easily last until family dinner at 6pm.
As I am an evening snacker (even if I’m not fasting) I have a supper around 9.30pm, usually I don’t eat anything else after 10ish but I’m not terribly strict on that. I know I need a decent sized supper else I will wake up v hungry and struggle to fast the next day. I really need that feeling of satiation which I can easily get by having the two meals close together and then I’m happy to go without the rest of the time.
The other benefit of this way of eating for me is that I am full of energy and really productive and focussed.
The problem is sticking with it during my period when I find im tired all the time or doing something out of the normal routine. The worst though is if I’ve been out and drunk a bit too much then I can’t fast the next day.
If I slip back into normal eating then I tend to go down a slippery slope and ‘forget’ that fasting is so much better for me and it’ll be months before I go back to it again. I just need to be consistent with it.
After another one of these hiatus, I’ve been back on it for the last 10 days, felt great and lost 7lbs.
Today is going to be more challenging as I did have a few drinks last night but I think I should make it through the day.

I find 16/8 much the easiest way to control my weight or loose lbs.
Even if (or when )I go off the rails at weekends especially Sunday I don’t eat till 12 everyday as I find I can easily keep to it.
I do drink huge buckets of tea with skimmed milk as compensation and it works for me, not eating breakfast.
I do stick to very little rice, no bread or pasta though.
