Fasting / 5:2 diet

Talk about intermittent fasting and 5:2, including what’s worked for others. Mumsnet hasn't checked the qualifications of anyone posting here. You may wish to speak to a medical professional before starting any diet.

Do you share the fact that you are fasting?

Morning all,
Just wondering if you lot tell others that you are doing 5:2?
I've taken the decision to start doing so, as I feel it will make me stick to it more.
For some reason I have always been resistant to discussing my weight with others. I somehow feel it's a bit sad when grown women focus so much energy on trying to be skinny in a way that men just don't feel they have to....
But I suppose since I am now embarking on this way of eating in a bid to be more healthy as well as look better in my swimming costume! I feel it's somehow different.

Apologies for the waffly post. I hope none of you take offence at my musings. I think these MN threads are fantastic and really supportive.
Wishing you all a happy weekend!

I don’t talk about it in general terms (because I find people talking about their diets really dull). But occasionally I’ll mention to a friend that I’m on 5:2 and doing a fast day if it’s relevant - eg if lunch is suggested (in which case I might explain and suggest a walk instead).

Yes I have. My family, friends and several work colleagues all know and I have only been doing it about 10 days.

I have stopped doing it recently but never used to mention it to others.

I might start 5:2 again soon. I will continue to keep it to myself because my weight is my own private issue and I don't like discussing it.
