Keeping fluids up

Ive been on the 5:2 for a year but always fall at the same hurdle;

Drinking!

I'm not keen on water :-(

Is there a low sugar cal alternative that isn't full of sugar or replacements (I find most fruit squash makes me crave sugar)?

Thank you

Have you tried adding things like slices of lemon or lime? Mint is also nice

Tap water may taste foul.
Make drinking more of a treat:

Try mineral water - still or fizzy - in a pretty glass.
Add ice, a slice of lemon or lime, a fancy straw
Aim for at least 4 glasses per FD and make these your me-time where you unwind for a few minutes.

Also boost fluids with low cal hot drinks:

  • Rooibos (naturally sweet) or herbal tea - e.g. ginger, mint, fenchel & aniseed. Optionally sweeten with a pinch of stevia powder. Mosely says that stevia is a herb which does not alter your gut flora, unlike other sweeteners
  • Coffee - yes it counts as fluid (and does not dehydrate) Have with unsweetened almond milk, which is only 4 cals for a 20 ml splash, much lower cal & lower GI than cows milk
  • Bovril. Only 10 cals per tesp.

If you're have Bovril or anything else salty, you may remain water thus disguising your fat loss Wink
