Anybody having any success with the 16/8 diet?

Please come and tell me your success story. It's been six days for me, no radical changes to report but feeling optimistic

Hi,I started about a week ago,I'm feeling pretty good to be honest. Not sure if I've lost weight but I feel like I have.
I'm eating between 10am - 6pm which works well with work/family life.
The only I'm not sure about is that I am tending to cram in 3 meals rather than just missing a meal altogether,having said that my breakfast and lunch are smaller portions.
How are you getting on?

Studies show there are probably some weight loss advantages to a shorter time window for eating. Daily fasting like 16:8 may help insulin metabolism for some people.

However, nearly all those who lose at a decent rate on 16:8 basically eat less, below their daily TDEE (calories burned).
The idea is to drop breakfast or supper and avoid squeezing the same total amount of food - and alcohol - into a shorter time window. Smaller 3 meals in those 8 hours should work too.

Can you drink tea outside the 8 hours?

When do the eight hours need to be? I could last most of the day without feeling hungry, but is it OK to have a decent meal (500 Cal's) and couple of glasses if wine at 8-10/pm?

Outside the 8 hours, you need to keep to near-zero cals, because the idea of fasting is not to raise insulin at all during this period.
Herbal tea with stevia is good.
Any tea or coffee without sugar or milk is fine. Unsweetened almond milk has no lactose and v few calories, so it's ok with hot drinks.

The 8 hours can be any period you like, but to maintain a daily 16-hr fast it's best to keep to roughly the same daily eating window.
Examples:
8am - 4 pm
12 noon - 8 pm
2 pm - 10 pm

I've been managing on mullerlight fir breakfast for a while, so not exactly missing that.

I try and stick to SW style foods in the 8hour window, but have been drinking tea and wine outside this time.

The scales show a slight decrease this morning, so something must be working

Depending on work, I try to stick to 12.30-- 8.30.
And I am four meals a day kinda girl -breakfast, lunch, tea and supper!

I am tending to have a small breakfast,small lunch and then a normal dinner. It's almost impossible to cram in 3 full size meals in 8 hours.
However I am having a cup of tea first thing and one in the evening.
I may in the future add 5:2 if I feel like I can.

If you keep to 3-4 meals I expect most people will find these meals naturally become smaller, if you just stop eating when satisfied

I like the 16:8 for what BigChocFrenzy said- you're generally eating less. A key thing to help me not be hungry is to have 25 grams of fiber in my eight hour window. Have had great weight loss with this combo!

But, probably the biggest benefit of eating this way is the FREEDOM it gives me during the time I wake up until I eat after 1 pm. I can just GO and get so much done in my high energy part of the day. I'm not bogged down by thinking about what I'm going to eat, making it, sitting down to eat it, etc.. i can really focus on what I'm doing since I e decluttered that one distraction of that makes any sense.

I've been thinking of switching over to this from 5:2. My lifestyle means I'd prefer 2pm to 10pm to be my 'window', but here's my dilemma...three times a week I do a HIIT class very early in the morning. Whilst I start the class fasted (i.e. Overnight) I always follow it with some protein. By not immediately scoffing boiled eggs, will the muscle build/recovery from my class be hindered?

I'm thinking of doing this diet but was wondering how much you lose in a week etc as I'm currently struggling with my diet 🙄
