Remind me what is good about 5:2 - I can't get back into it

I used to do 5:2 and lost about 25lbs, was maintaining my weight...and then, we went on holiday and got out of the habit. Since then, I've become quite peri-menopausal and piled weight on. I need to lose about 30lbs, preferable 35 or 40.

The trouble is: I know it works, I know I can do it after a few difficult days, and I know I need to for my health. Please help me get back into the groove!

If anyone has any nice ideas for gentle exercise to start me off again, too, I'd love a bit of encouragement as I'm frankly too hefty to jog. I cycle a bit and it's getting to be hard work.
God I hate this!

I've started back on it today, the thought was harder than the deed given a house full of food. But have had a good 500 cal day!
Decide on your day and take the first step. You can do it! Good luck.
