Sorry if it's been asked before but can I eat more than 500 if I exercise on Fast Days? I started with 500 today. Just checked and had 52 cals left. However, when I added in my jog this morning on to MFP, I d been given an extra 320 cals. I coulx have had that glass of wine after all ;)

Anyway, so my question is... what do people do? Do you allow your self more if you exercise?

Hi Frozen

On FDs do NOT eat back any exercise calories. That's according to both Dr Mosely (5;2) and Dr Varady (ADF)
5:2 is not solely about calorie deficit: anti-aging research indicates reducing intake to 500 cals on some days may be beneficial in itself.

Yes, if you exercise intensively on an FD, that can mean net calories for the day are negative.

If you find exercising on 500 cals difficult, start at say 700 and gradually reduce over a few weeks.
BFers can do 1000-cal FDs anyway and optionally reduce to 700 cals.
