I am afraid of the hunger! It's daft in a way, it's just one day. I have the kids home and I am worried about the afternoon especially which always feel long to me anyway and I am very grumpy when hungry. Posting here in the hope that it will make me stick to it.

First fast day here too. Not doing too bad, but am working a night shift tonight. Saving my calories for then. Hope you're having a good day

plotmissinginaction · 05/05/2014 13:35

So far so good, I am going to wait until evening meal. I think if I start eating I won't want to stop and I hate going to bed hungry. It's this next bit I am dreading tbh, afternoons always seem to go on forever.

Have been lucky, had a sleep this afternoon, ready for tonight. Just had an apple for 'breakfast' have made a soup for this evening - have beans on toast ready for the morning!!

plotmissinginaction · 05/05/2014 16:53

Oh sleeping, good move! My afternoon was hard going. Morning was fine.

Hi Plot, hope you managed the rest of the day ok. I'm planning Thursday as my next fast day! Grin

plotmissinginaction · 06/05/2014 09:43

Me too! I survived although the afternoon was pretty miserable and I am sure I went over 500 at tea. I had salmon salad and a bit of home made soup but I did eat a lot of salad! Anyway day one and all that, see how Thursday goes.

Will keep posting here, we can motivate each other!

plotmissinginaction · 06/05/2014 14:52

Good plan. I have been a tad bingey today Confused

Hi ladies, its my first day today. Not done too bad but had to go and do the food shop earlier anf was practically drooling in the aisles! Got salmon and roasted veg planned for tea. Counting down the hours!

plotmissinginaction · 06/05/2014 15:51

Hello! Good luck, it is better once you have your wee meal, you are nearly there :)

Upsy1981 · 06/05/2014 17:16

Thanks! Dinner is cooking as we speak. Hopefully won't be too bad tonight as I have a meeting so I won't be at home with temptation!

RachaelAgnes · 06/05/2014 21:31

The first was difficult, but manageable.....hopefully they become a way of life - some folk seem to look forward to them!!

BetsyBell · 06/05/2014 21:52

Well done on your first fast day all of you! You can eat really quite enormous quantities of leafy stuff and veggies so unless you dressed the whole lot in lashings of oily dressing you should be ok! Home made veg soup can be very low in calories too if mainly veg.

I am one of those weirdos who often looks forward to a fast, especially if I've spent the best part of the weekend scoffing - it's a relief to have a reason to stop. Grin

Do get yourself on the main thread too if you haven't already (I'm a bit behind on it at the moment), it's a really supportive place.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/05/2014 11:44

Oh well done!

Now you've done one day, hopefully the fear is gone - you can be hungry for a few hours and survive. It gets easier as you become used to it - learn what suits you best. You seem to have hit on what a lot of people find - that just drinking (plenty) during the day and then having a decent dinner works well.

plotmissinginaction · 08/05/2014 12:39

Fast 2. Morning fine. Afternoon is the grim bit. Being hungry while looking after a three year old makes me feel grumpy.

RachaelAgnes · 08/05/2014 15:29

Plot - have moved my fast day to tomorrow, will be easier because I'm working. Hope the afternoon has eased up

Breadandwine · 09/05/2014 05:35

It does get easier, folks, promise! I'm another who looks forward to my fast after the w/e ... But when I began I was climbing the wall on my FDs.
As Betsy says, get yourself over to the main thread ... Lots of info and support on there.

plotmissinginaction · 09/05/2014 11:08

Another day down but I know I am not managing 500 yet. I ate a little tuna and veg at 4 and then an omelette with veg and some feta cheese after which I felt ill, think I ate too fast. I am hoping I will get used to it and be able to get closer to the 500 in time. Reckon I was about 800 yesterday.

RachaelAgnes · 09/05/2014 11:58

Well, started today. Just water so far, but going to have a warm drink soon. Will be sleeping this afternoon, then have carrots and apple to snack on. Chicken and veg for my night shift! Feeling good today Grin

BigChocFrenzy · 11/05/2014 14:19

Don't worry if you don't manage 500 cal FDs at first. 800 is still a very good deficit.

plotmissinginaction · 12/05/2014 07:32

Well end of week one and I have put on a pound. Not sure this is the diet for me so far, I felt so unwell on the second fast day and I seem to be thinking about food all the time. Also I feel totally miserable on the fast days. But I will see what this week brings.

I am starting today after a failed attempt in the winter.

Hunger wasn't too bad last time, but I got very cold.

Breakfast today will be porridge with water and some red fruit, an apple at lunchtime and veg soup and ham tonight.

RachaelAgnes · 12/05/2014 07:52

Plot - I weighed in yesterday also a pound on BUT waist is an inch smaller.
The motivation for me was to lose weight, but really thinking about that, it's to look better and fit into a smaller size of clothes, so (although obsessed with them) I shall ignore the scales and use the tape measure!!
Have also taken some good advice from BigChoc on exercise - starting that today!!

plotmissinginaction · 12/05/2014 09:13

What are you doing for exercise?

I can't exercise right now due to poor health, it's the reason I have this weight to lose. Usually I would just run it off.

I got cold too, I don't know if I could handle the winter actually!

OP posts:
RachaelAgnes · 12/05/2014 09:41

Look at the 5:2 exercise thread. High intensity training - which suits my lazy attitude, as it only takes a few minutes of your life, and I can incorporate it on my dog walks....also some strength training I can do in the house where no-one can see me!
Pop over to the thread and ask for advice - I was worried because just come out of hospital after an asthma attack - but will be able to manage what BigChoc suggested, and build on it!!
