My husband weighed himself yesterday and has decided that he needs to loose some weight which is fantastic because this diet is hard to do alone.

So we both ate last night and I don't intend on eating again today until about 13.00 so that I get the full benefit of the fast, when I do eat I will have one egg and lots of spinach, followed by cod and steamed veggies for dinner.

We will both resume eating normally at about 10am on Sunday, though I will probably allow myself a coffee before that!

Any support would be great, I am 10hrs into my fast and have some diet doctor pepper and lots of water to keep me going!

Good for you for starting, it is much easier when you both do it. i've done 5:2 with my DH since sept 2012.

One piece of advice, avoid diet soda. It is said that artificial sweetners can trigger insulin production as your body tastes sweet and expects sugar. The insulin can then make it harder to fast as it makes you hungry.

I'm thinking of starting this on Monday. I've done online research and think I've got the gyst. Is it really as easy as it sounds? Does it work? And is there any chance you can explain it to me in simple terms. I know it's a bit cheeky to ask but just want to be sure I've understood right Grin

So you eat a normal meal

then you dont eat for 16 hours

then have up to 500 calories (so this would be on the fast day)

then eat normally again the morning you wake up on the day after your fast.

It is really that easy.

So on a non fast day if I eat at 7pm I shouldn't eat until 11am the following day. Only eat 500 cals that day then eat normally the next day? It really does seem straight forward.

yes basically. if you can fit two 16hr fasts in that is the most beneficial.
