People's experience of their weight plateau-ing

Apologies if this has been done before/recently, but I thought it might be a good idea to share experience of weight plateaux on 5:2.

I know there's quite a few new people joining the chat thread, and I've seen a few people recruited over here from other boards, as well.

I thought it might be helpful to talk about times when your weight plateaux on 5:2 because it is something that happens, and it can be disheartening when it does.

I've been doing 5:2 since March, so 8 months, and in that time I've lost 8 kilos.

In all honesty, a lot of the time, it feels like I'm on a constant plateau, just willing the scales to go down that little bit more! But ... the facts speak for themselves. As much as it may feel like I'm plateau-ing, the weight has been on a downward trajectory.

I think it's really important to acknowledge that there will be times when it feels like you're not making much progress. It can be easy to feel like giving up during those times, especially when you're on a fast day.

But - the bigger picture is - the weight is coming off, and most importantly, it's a sustainable WOE that you can continue long-term, so the impetus to continue instead of giving up is there.

And also, even though your weight might be plateau-ing, your shape isn't necessarily. You can still be losing centimetres from your overall silhouette.

:)

I've been 5:2'ing for 8 weeks and feel like I am stuck! I've lost around 1/2 stone - most of which (5lbs) I lost in the first 2 weeks - so only 3lb in the last 6 weeks which has yo-yoed on & off -pretty rubbish really & it is making me question this woe for me. I find it really easy to stick to though & cope really well with the fast days - maybe I need to introduce alternate day fasting for a time to shift some weight? I could do with losing another 1.5 stone at least. I've done the VGB hypnosis in the past too and it worked whilst I was listening to it & I do still use some of the techniques. I am going to start listening to it again & see ifI can do both woe in tandem!

It does depend a bit on how much you have to loose. I have been doing it since Feb. My BMI has gone from 23 to 20 (about 7kg). I am only doing 6:1 most of the time now, so not surprised the weight isn't falling off.

I am stuck too. Over the last six weeks I've done one 6:1, one 4:3, four 5:2 and had a bout of illness plus a piggy week. So lots of ups and downs. But my weight is stubbornly fluctuating between a narrow range of about three pounds. It's so frustrating! I'm going to stick with it for now but as I am only two to five pounds off my first target it's very annoying!
