Fasting / 5:2 diet

Talk about intermittent fasting and 5:2, including what’s worked for others. Mumsnet hasn't checked the qualifications of anyone posting here. You may wish to speak to a medical professional before starting any diet.

Starting 5:2 tomorrow and would love to lose a stone before Christmas! Is it possible?

I currently weigh 12st 7lb (after having 2 children in 2 years and eating for England!!) and really want to lose weight and feel good again. Before my first lo, I got to 9st and felt great! I did this by being 'good' and choosing healthy options and lots of waking. Now I have 2 very young children, the exercise is a problem (I know you will be thinking I can take the children with me walking but it makes it more of an effort!!). Anyway, after reading success stories about the 5:2 diet, I've decided to give it a go. I actually feel excited about tomorrow being my first fast day! I would love to lose a stone before Christmas. Is this possible?

I think if you eat sensibly on your NFD then it may be possible.

Try not to eat until at least lunchtime. I usually have a yoghurt with a handful of raspberries (raspberries are low in cals) for lunch or a can if weight watchers soup and then maybe a salmon fillet and some salad for tea. I allow myself two coffees with skimmed milk and the rest of the time I have a peppermint or camomile tea.

If I have had a heavy weekend, I will do 4:3 the following week to rein it back in.

You might want to register with MyFitnessPal. You log everything you eat and it tells you how many calories you are eating, can also log any exercise you do too.
