Fasting / 5:2 diet

Anyone taking hoodia gordonii? It's helping me loads!

I have tried the 5:2 diet before but i always got a stomach ache from it being empty. However, this herb is said to regulate the production of acid in your stomach, which means I don't get pain, apart from, of course, greatly reducing my appetite!

I only take it on fasting days and it is amazing.

Also, much as i researched it, I could not find any side effects associated with it.

But I did wonder if anyone else has any thoughts on it, as It nearly seems a bit too easy to be true...?!

I took hoodia for a few days (not on the 5:2 diet) and found I had absolutely no appetite whatsoever. So I stopped taking it fairly swiftly.

Thank you for your replies.

Sunshine, yes, it is odd, isn't it? I suppose that's partly why I was asking, in case there is anything obscure about it that I am missing!

Fergus, that's interesting, I found it very hard to find too. I use to buy years ago in health shops in Spain, but the never saw it for years, either there or in the UK. My current one is Canadian, although I bought it in a posh shopping centre in Dubai - by that I just mean it wasn't anywhere dodgy. But I have had it for months without taking it (till last week when I got my umpteenth migraine from eating too much chocolate) because I have been wondering two things:

-If it works so well without side effects, why is it not widely used and available?
-If it does have side effects, why aren't they easy to find either?

Bit mind boggled by this, really.

Have heard Holland and Barrett does some too.

The side effect for me was that I didn't want to eat at all. It didn't just suppress my appetite, it completely nuked it, and I didn't want to be ill.

It doesn't quite nuke my appetite, nothing does, (it's the heavy cross I bear...no, hang on, or is that my bottom!?) Just reduces it, and I eat my 500kcal but get no empty stomach pain, so works well for me.

Might have just found why you can't easily buy it. According to the below link, it's banned in UK because there were too many fake hoodia suppplements being sold.

I can see why unscrupulous sellers could be interested in it, cause it does help....

It is no longer legally available here in UK due to its irregular effects. I took it for a while and it def worked but after I stopped, the weight came back on. Not a long term solution cos u cn lose weight without teaching your body to recognise by itself that it is full.
