I'm keen to try the 5:2 way of eating for the health benefits and it would be great to lose some pounds round my tummy, but the last time I lost weight (after a breakup 6 years ago) I looked too skinny and haggard around my face. Any advice please ?!

Do 1 in every 7 days instead of 5:2 or 4:3?

formicadinosaur · 22/07/2013 22:16

Or do 5:2 but then change to 6:1 once you have reached your target weight

willybreeder · 22/07/2013 22:16

That makes sense (but I hadn't thought of it-doh)! Thanks

if you do not have much to lose, you wont

willy last time I had a normal BMI I looked awful, but that was also post breakup. I'm just over a stone away from that and I don't think I will look that awful at that weight again as I've lost sensibly this time. Not sure I will go below it, but I'm keeping an open mind and will re-evaluate when I get there.

ERD
do not forget that stress weight loss ALWAYS results in people looking gaunt - its one of the first signs we look out for in the changing room at the gym - ribs suddenly showing above boobs.
BUT
If you lose weight steadily and contentedly and combine it with LOTS of toning,
the butterfly that will appear from the chrysalis will look FAB
