Starting on Monday - anyone want to be my buddy?

I'm planning on starting next week - it's my birthday on Thursday so want to wait until after then!

I'm 32, 5'7 and have about 5 stone to lose. I have a 10 month old DS and I have recently been diagnosed with an underactive thyroid gland, which slows the metabolism and makes it harder to lose weight - I started treatment 2 weeks ago and am already feeling much better, so I'm hoping to find losing weight a bit easier. 2 stone of this weight has been gained since having DS, which I feel ashamed about, but have been feeling exhausted and depressed (due mostly to the thyroid, it turns out) and have compensated by comfort eating. Confused

I really hope this will be a solution to 8 years of yo-yo dieting, which have taken me from a size 10 to a size 18 Confused A little nervous of the hunger, but I know it won't kill me.

Does anyone want to be my buddy, for a bit of mutual support?

I have eaten nothing but rubbish all day. And washed it down with pimms. Oh dear. Onwards and upwards! I'm going to fast again on Monday. Well done Aphra, hope the evening wasn't too difficult.

522 yesterday, plus a bite of DHs flapjack (not sure how many calories in one bite!). BBQ and Pimms for me today though, hooray! Have a nice weekend everyone.

How has everyone's weekend been?

I'm fasting again tomorrow. And weighing in tomorrow morning. I'm not expecting such a good loss this week, I've eaten LOADS this weekend as we had a BBQ for DH's birthday, and we've been eating leftovers (and cake!) all day today. Plus my period is due any day, which does tend to affect my weight. Fingers crossed that I've lost something though!

Is anyone else fasting tomorrow?

I'm fasting again tomorrow. Will be going to my mum's next week but I know she will be supportive. The heat is such a help I think, this week I've only been eating two meals most non-fast days anyway (although topping up somewhat with Magnums!)

Good luck spaniel, I'll check in again tomorrow.

1lb off this week, which isn't bad considering the amount of high calorie food I have eaten this weekend! So that's 4lb in 2 weeks. Good luck to tiger and to anyone else who is fasting today. I feel hungry all ready, which is a bad start!

Great weekend here in Hove, beach and parties - lots of picnic food high in calories - too scared to weigh myself! Fast day today, will weigh myself tomorrow, should have gone for a run this morning but cat kept me awake and then DS2 asked to come to bed with us........too hot so had to send him back to his room - all in all a rubbish night's sleep.

Anyhow feel up for fasting today, just had a berrocca so lots of vitamins inside me and I currently have zero appetite - aware that it is only 9am so maybe a bit premature with appetite! Have a top Monday :)

Well done Spaniel on weight loss - good luck for today, think bikini body!

I am the same weight now as at mid week so from now on I will follow spaniel and weigh in only on Monday mornings. Overall I have lost approx four pounds in two weeks although I did guess my starting weight (told my DH this and he helpfully suggested I should guess the end weight as well for 'consistency').

Quite hungry this morning but hopefully a black coffee will sort me out.

I lost 2lb last week on my first fast week which I am pleased with. Fasting again today which is tricky especially as I have promised to take dd2 swimming. Good luck everyone fasting today.

I've lost 1.2 lbs this week bringing me to 4lbs in total over 3 weeks. Not an earth shattering weight loss but remarkably pain free to be honest.

If I want to see more of a loss, I need to cut out unecessary alcohol, those odd bottles of cider or glasses of Pimms tend to add up. I also need to start running again regularly but I can't see that happening in this heat! On the positive side I think I have a better idea of what 'normal' eating should look like.

Well done Spaniel, mn and tigerlily on your losses. SimplyTes* having a berocca sounds like a great idea, might try that myself.

I have done my first fast day today.
Banana, ww yogurt and waitrose lasagne 306 calories. Green salad. Total 500

Starting weight 130 lbs GW under 120.

Well done all of you for your losses up to date. I hope I can stick to this

Hi funny, good first day by the sounds of it. I fasted yesterday and had so much energy (berocca) that I dragged DH to cinema to watch WW Z at 9.30pm - I have read the book and my brother said film was good - start was excellent, ending was weird and rushed.

Anyhow super hot here but am just about to go for a run before I weigh myself, I do feel a bit slimmer - tummy a bit flatter and thighs a little less wobbly. Told DH about diet last night, he has had 20 years of me moaning about weight / going on numerous diets so though best not to mention this one until I have been a bit successful - I don't think he had noticed anything different! Hey ho men aren't the most observant creatures. Good luck to you one and all!

Hi Funny, welcome!

I have been away for a couple of days but I'm back, and had a fasting day today. I was a bit over, ended up at 593 cals (DH forgot I was fasting & bought me a solero, oops!). Not too terrible though, I suppose. My next fast day is Monday, so I'm looking forward to the weekend - this is just such an easy plan to fit into normal life isn't it? I'm also finding the fast days easier & easier - I think my body is just getting used to it, I'm hungry at breakfast time but if I don't eat anything it subsides, and I'm then fine until about 3pm. Much better than the first day!

I am fasting tomorrow (Friday)... But nervous actually as stupidly didn't have dinner as had MASSIVE lunch. But I can't do the weekend as I'm going out both days and font want to fall at the week 3 hurdle! So will just try and push on through... May be back tomorrow for encouragement...

I'm fasting Friday as well. It will be my first only one this week. I'm a bit pre menstrual and have been a bit of a carb monster so do need to reverse some damage.

I am only fasting once this week. It's the start of the school holidays and I couldn't face the grumpy monster I turn into being inflicted on my excited dc!

Just had all my calories for the day. I was so hungry....

I've probably gone a touch over (550 cal?) but it couldn't be helped, I was starving. Never do what I did and fast after skipping dinner! It is exactly as hard as it sounds!

Now just have to stick it out until tomorrow morning.

Fast went well yesterday, I managed to wait until about 4.30pm before eating. Am toying with the idea of another one today but am not sure if I'll manage it.

Couldn't wait until tomorrow so weighed myself today. I've lost another pound so that's five pounds in three weeks! I'm pleased with that particularly as it feels quite sustainable.

Hope you're all doing well, spaniel thanks for starting this thread and giving me a kick up the arse! Flowers

I'm supposed to be fasting today but have had a bad night with DS, so going to delay until tomorrow when I hopefully won't be so tired!

Well done tiger and Spaniel. That's good going. Another 1lb off for me making 5lbs in 4 weeks. I'm aiming to have lost a stone by the end of the summer holidays, which I hope is achieveable.

Hello ladies, can I join please? I am finding the main thread a little intimidating.

I have done 5:2 on and off (more off than on) but have to do it properly now. To kick start things I am going to do 4:3 with Monday, Wednesday and Friday as Fast Days.

So FD today. Am having a coffee with a little milk at the moment and have a 300cal dinner planned. If I get too hungry later on I can have a small bowl of porridge, if not, I'll munch more dinner Smile.

I would like to lose 2 stone.

Hi butterandcrumpets (good job today isn't my FD!). I find the main thread a bit overwhelming as well and can't keep up with who is doing what. I do find it useful for tips though as the established 5:2ers seem to know their stuff.

Good luck with fasting today. I find mine are getting easier and I can make it through until late afternoon before I need to eat.
