Fasting / 5:2 diet

I've seen a lot about peoples IBS improving with 5:2 and I'm wondering if that's because most of you suffer with constipation predominant IBS. I'm a diarrhoea predominant sufferer and am finding my IBS is worsening. It may be to do with having more fruit and veg in my diet, but I can't avoid healthy food for the sake of easing IBS. Has anyone else suffered this/got any tips?

Well, I'm unsure I did the fast and my IBS was horrendous after it. (pain, bloated suffer) Not sure my body appreciated this shock and dont think it suited me.

I'm IBS-D and have seen a huge improvement fasting (I've been going since September). I noticed it getting worse at first as my body adapted to the changes in diet, I find that any major changes in diet is a trigger for me. After the first 2 weeks, I improved dramatically, to the point that I now have the opposite problem (and I needed to take immodium at least one day every week before)

It depends how bad it is whether you can ride it out and see if you have an improvement. It's changed my life, I have to say!

There wasn't a change for me in the first few weeks but its almost like my body has gone "holy crap, she's going to feed us healthily on a almost constant basis" and is now having a breakdown about it. Its helping my PA so much though (as well as my weight obviously) so much I'm not willing to change it for IBS. It can suck it and I'll find some way to deal with that!

I was IBS-D too. Plus stomach cramping. Started disappearing after a month of fasting but has only now 90% disappeared now I've stopped snacking between meals too (weekdays, not weekends). Seems my digestion likes regular complete breaks from food Grin.

It's fair to say that I find now, though my attacks are very rare, when I do have a bout of D, it's pretty intense. But once every 6 weeks-2 months, I can deal with, it's much better than being fat and having D almost every day!
