First Fast Day

Hi ladies! I am giving the 5:2 WOE a go, after a friend has been raving about it, hoping to shift at least a stone before conceiving DC2!

Anyway, although I am finding the concept a little bizarre, I am up for the challenge.

Today is my first fast day, so far I have eaten a very low cal cereal bar (70cal), and drunk a glass of water and two cups of very strong English breakfast tea with a tea spoon of milk, so they work out around 5cal each. I am using MFP to track my calories and plan to stick to around 1800 cals on non fast days (according to the calculator I found linked on this forum, my TDEE is 1834).

I have a very good salad bar at work so was planning on filling up on salad like cucumber, lettuce, beetroot etc at lunch time, just wondered if I am on the right track? Dinner will be weight watchers soup, and this wekeend I plan on making a batch of spring vegetable soup I found a recipe for that is around 100cal per serving. I can then freeze portions and use that for evenings on fast days.

Trying to make sure I get a good range of vitamins even on fast days, any advice greatly appreciated.

I also have a 35 minute walk before work each morning, so burn around 150 cal there according to MFP.

Hi Golden It sound like you are on the right track. Just make sure the salads don't have any hidden calories in the way of dressings. In the future I would recommend skipping the cereal bar and sticking to veg and lean protein. Cereals tend to spike your insulin levels and make you hungrier in the long run.

Obviously on non-fast days you can eat whatever cereals you want.

Thanks Frenchfancy for the tips! I had a lunch of mixed lettuce leaves, cucumber, a couple of spears of raw baby corn, raw pepper and three large florets of cauliflower that had been seasoned, no salad dressings though.

I did find that I was very very hungry between 11 and 12 so that was prob the insulin spike tailing off, I had to drink lots of water to stop the atomach grumbles. Am feeling suprisingly ok now though, had a ww soup (100cal) and one slice of bread for dinner followed by a large glass of water, according to mfp ive come in on bang on 500 cal today.

Any tips for a low cal breakfast? Was thinking a boiled egg but need to check calories in that.
