Tubal Ligation during C-section

Im pregnant with DC2, consultant led care and very likely will have a c-section, at my last consultant appointment she asked if I waned my tubes tied at the same time?

It sounds ridiculous but I was blindsided and just said that I didnt realise it was an option and something I would need to think about.

I have DD7 and will be 42 when DC2 is born, I've had an awful pregnancy and I definitely don't want any more children (I've been speaking to DH about a vasotomy) so its stupid but I don't know how I feel about it, maybe a bit sad, which doesn't make any sense?

Id assumed I was peri before pregnant as my cycle was starting to get very irregular and I was having other symptoms but I fell on the first try so clearly Im still fertile and need some form of contraception.

When I google side effects all I can find is side affects on the actual procedure not afterwards?

Can anyone share their experiences, or possibly talk some sense into me as it seems like a very sensible option, but I cant seem to get head around it.
