I’ve been heavy bleeding for 60 days straight on the depo. No break at all in between days, coming up to 70 days now. I’ve been to doctors, they said to either try something else (which will make me bleed too) or just stay on the depo. What do I do? The pain is unbearable and I can’t live (been on it for 7 months)

I had similar and was told to stay on it and it would improve. It didn’t. I think depo was one of the worst things I’ve ever done to myself. My advise would be to quit, have a break from hormonal contraception and then try something else.

I had an awful time on depo too. Vowed never to touch it again. I think it’s worse that you can’t take it out/stop it immediately.

I also got very fat and spotty on it. It was contraceptive in that o looked and felt gross as well as bleeding non stop.

it took a long time to recover from too. I would stop and take a break for a while. Get back to normal then look for another form

I was on depo in my twenties. Seen that there are now lawsuits due to increased risk of a type of brain tumour. You can google it.

i’d come off it and go back to gp.

Depo provera made me feel suicidal. Didn't realise the cause till I started feeling better , but the next injection brought it all back.
Hellish 6 months

Stop using it. Try something else like the pill or even just condoms.

hey thanks for all the replies (unsure how this works, think this will send to all replies?) the reason I’m so iffy with bleeding is because I’ve lost my baby this year and I can’t deal with any period blood anymore, it’s a constant reminder. Which is why this is so important for me to get sorted soon.

Unbelievable that the Drs tell us poor women to persevere, tossers.

I struggled greatly with the pill, have had a devil of a job finding a HRT that suited me. I will say that one brand of the Pill called Yasmin actually suited me, apart from my boobs we’re getting a little bigger but most do this, 😝

It’s usually the progesterone that causes the bleeding and discomfort and depo contains medroxyprogesterone. The progesterone in Yasmin is called drospirenone which I tolerated well. I don’t tolerate medroxyprogesterone well and can’t have it every day, I’m on a regime where it’s used for 14 days after 70 days taking estrogen. I feel like crap during those 14 days . Although the drospirenone is being made available as an HRT progesterone, it’s a good alternative for women who experience prostogenic side effects, I.e mood changes, bleeding etc
