For anyone thats had a partner/husband who has had a vasectomy, how long did it take before they were able to go back to light housework?

2 days max.. and that was milking it!

FestivusMiracle · 15/07/2025 20:27

A day? Light housework isn’t exactly strenuous.

CatOnAHotRadiator · 15/07/2025 20:27

My husband took about 3 days to lose all pain but was up and about doing light duties on day 2.

His pal was one of the rare ones with complications and was out of action for weeks and had to have an extra procedure to sort him out.

Emotionalsupporthamster · 15/07/2025 20:28

Yeah a couple of days no worries.

Nocalmwaters · 15/07/2025 20:32

A few days. He didn’t go back to his farm work for a few weeks and when he did he over did it and it was quite uncomfortable, and he was worried about complications. He stuck to the guidance on the leaflet he was given!

DruidKnight · 15/07/2025 20:34

The next day! About four weeks of telling me about every teeny tiny sensation, mind you...

Myusername19 · 15/07/2025 21:18

On day 6 here. Ive been doing everything with 3 kids. He made breakfast this morning but now hes complaining.

other than lifting our kids in and out of the bath.. he had to get on with it. Much like I did after giving birth. I couldn’t stop caring for my children for my recovery. Being sensible and getting help yes.. but 6 days and only making one meal (which I assume didn’t involve any heavy lifting?!) that is taking it to the extreme.

landlordhell · 15/07/2025 22:19

DH had one day off work then normal life resumed. Do t think he did much sport for a week.

ChandrilanDiscoDroid · 15/07/2025 22:21

He took the rest of that day off and after that he was back to normal, tbh. I think he was a bit tender for a few days but nothing that stopped him from doing normal stuff.

Just out of interest, how long did he do everything for when you gave birth? Because 6 days sounds like milking it compared to childbirth.

I'd be suggesting you can drive him to A&E for an urgent look, as clearly something's not right! See if that changes his behaviour or if it's genuine.

Exactly.

sounds like he is punishing you.

HansHolbein · 15/07/2025 22:30

He rested for the rest of the afternoon. Back to normal the next day. Everyone is different but sounds like he’s taking the piss.

roseymoira · 15/07/2025 22:44

Get him to A&E as he must have a very serious complication

mumoronegirl · 15/07/2025 23:06

Back to normal as soon as he got home - it's a really minor procedure.

Myusername19 · 16/07/2025 12:06

Update. Hes been to the gps and has a hematoma infection so hes got antibiotics now.

I hope he improves quickly OP. Good to know he’s not just playing on it. Sorry I took a dim view of him earlier.
