Being a parent

Hey all,

Young woman here trying to figure out what's best. The problem in my area is that no one I know is even remotely happy to be a parent, and even growing up, my parents were cynical because they had kids. Is it even worth it to have kids? Am I going to be miserable for it? Do I have to spend my whole life being miserable and regretting it? Even the parents I have met along the way make comments like "In another life, I wouldn't be a mom, but in this one I am" or "I don't have nice things because I had kids" or "once you become a mom, it never ends". These are from three different moms for the record.

How old are you?

Being a mum is the best thing that's ever happened to me and I am so grateful for my child, I also have only met parents who feel similar, joining an NCT group helped connect with like-minded parents, and we are all going through the journey at similar pace. We can share with eachother on the tough days, because there are some but also wouldn't change it for the world, I was with my partner for 6 years before we had a child, we spoke about our plans for future and were on the same page that children were important to us both but also we wanted to have fun and be carefree for a bit longer first, I think that's important as when we welcomed our little one we were both ready and were able to save more money. I know that's not possible in every scenario but worth baring in mind. Also not sure where you are living but really haven't come across any such statements, no wonder they're making you think twice but I've had the opposite experience so it's not all doom and gloom :)
