Age gap

Hi everyone!

just curious to get people’s thoughts on age gaps.

I am thinking of going for baby number 2 soon which will mean (if all goes to plan) roughly a 3 year age gap. Part of me is also thinking to wait a year and do a 4 year gap. (I really want a spring / summer baby as get quite bad seasonal depression)

shall I just crack on and get it done, or is there benefits to waiting a little longer ? Is 4 years too big for them to play etc? So much to think about, ha!

im enjoying having a bit of my life back / getting back into exercise so it feels a lot to go again, but the longer I put it off the longer it will take for me to get back here

Personally I would prefer a 3 year gap to a 4 year gap so I would go for it. It's your choice though of course!

I think there are pluses and minuses with every age gap.

We'll have 4.5 years which is perfect for us as DD1 is in reception now and old enough to understand/help with baby sister etc. She's been able to get really involved and is super excited. I'm hoping this will mean less jealousy when DD2 arrives.

There are 2.5 years with me and my sister and my Mum always says I was terribly jealous when younger. We fought a lot and I refused to play with her. We didn't get on at all as children but, as adults, we're really close.

I know children and adults with smaller or larger age gaps and it seems to go one way or the other - they are either super close or they hate each other 🙈

Side note- don't forget there are no guarantees with TTC. You can plan everything to a T but it may take more or less time to conceive and have a healthy pregnancy which changes everything

@sel2223 very true! I could aim for 3 years and end up with 4+ anyway.

i think it’s more the thought of being pregnant again and postpartum now I feel life is settling a bit but know I definitely want two!
