Hello and happy NY to everyone!

My partner had a positive pregnancy test yesterday and we're over the moon as it would be our first child. :)

We reached out to the GP today today expecting to be able to book in an appointment this week to help support and provide some basic advice to us such as how to ensure we do the right things for the baby in the first trimester and take us through maternity services in the area (as advised on the NHS website), and so completed and online request form for an appointment. We received a brief text message telling us to search for hostpitals in the area and register for their maternity services who will be back in contact with us for the first time by week 10-12. Is this really how it works? We are feeling a little lost by the response. :(

Thanks
Chris

You get a Booking in appointment with community midwife team then a scan at 12 weeks. You don't see Gp unless there are problems. Are there several hospitals locally?

Great thanks for the help :) We've just self referred to a hospital nearby online.

Congratulations. Booking used to be 7-8 weeks and scan at 12 weeks.

All pregnant women are recommended 400mcg folic acid in first trimester (but women over 30bmi are recommended 5mg on prescription - not everyone knows this so just in case it applies make sure GP prescribes right now.)
