Self employed V Limited Company

Myself and husband would like to start trying for a baby towards the end of this year. I’m the main breadwinner and currently self employed. Financially, would it be better for me to register as a Limited Company and pay myself maternity (which you can then claim back from the goverment) or just receive the maternity allowance which is approx £700 a month?
I also will not be going back to work full time for the first few years so what are the rules around child benefits etc if I’m technically not really earning?
