Hi all. I've been on the mirena for about 3ish years. Don't get periods etc.. I've been really struggling with my mental health and literally have zero sex drive.

I am on antidepressants also. I was considering getting the coil out to try get my body to somewhat normal? I already have 4 children and dh is gonna consider a vasectomy.

How did everyone feel after getting it out? Curious to find out if it helped mood, sex drive etc.

Dh and I have been together 16 years and I've always been on some sort of contraception but want a break but don't want anymore children 😅

Any advice would be great thanks x

AD really affect sex drive tbh but, for me at least, they are essential. Not sure what the answer is really. Removing my Mirena didn’t help on that score.

Don’t take it out!!!!
The amount of hormone that gets into your system from a mirena is tiny. Not likely to be affecting your mood and sex drive.
Not having a period is lovely and I wouldn’t personally give it up unless I was damn sure I needed to.
And definitely don’t take it out until your husband’s vasectomy had been done and his follow up sample has been checked. An unplanned baby would be really hard on your mood and sex drive.
