Bleeding on Implant - is this normal?!

I had the contraceptive implant fitted 3 months ago. I had 2 months of no bleeding. Then I started bleeding and hasn’t stopped for a whole month. Is this normal? I thought after 2 months blood free it would be plain sailing. Why has it started up again now?!

Implant is notorious for bleeding! I tell my implant patients that out of every 5 women who have the implant fitted, 2 won’t bleed at all, 2 will have occasional spotting and 1 will have problem bleeding. However, it can take up to 6 months for bleeding to settle for anyone who has the implant, so 3 months in isn’t really long enough to tell what your longer-term bleeding pattern will be like, I’m afraid. It is normal though 🙂
